Cue Zero Theatre Company Announces Second Season

Cue Zero Theatre Company, NH Magazine's Best of NH 2019 'Best 'New' Theatre', continues its mission of supporting local artists and creating challenging theatrical endeavors by announcing an ambitious second season. Their 2019/2020 plans include three main stage productions, a continuation of their ever popular Guerrilla Shakespeare Series, and some fun new side projects, including an attempt to earn a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records!

EgoPo Classic Theater presents the Tennessee Williams one-act, And Tell Sad Stories of the Death of Queens, with performances at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival this September 5-8, 2019.  EgoPo Artistic Director, Lane Savadove, directs this obscure production rarely produced on the stage, starring Rob Tucker (11th Hour's City of Angels, The Arden's The Light Princess) in his EgoPo premiere.  Written in 1957 and first produced in 2004, And Tell Sad Stories... invites you to enjoy a glass of champagne as you step into the world of a queer interior decorator looking for the one thing that we all seek: love. Atlanta Comedy Troupe Sues For Right To Perform GREASE Parody

Atlanta's award-winning and longest-running sketch comedy company, Sketchworks Comedy, has filed a lawsuit against the rights'-holders of Grease. Sketchworks Comedy wrote and produced a parody of Grease titled Vape: The Musical. The show had a successful run in Atlanta and was set to premiere in New York City in August, but was cancelled after the owners of the musical Grease, including Jim Jacobs, one of its writers, issued a cease and desist letter.

Children's Recording Artist Laurie Berkner and Concord Strike Deal

Top children's music artist Laurie Berkner is pleased to announce the partial acquisition of her recording and publishing catalogs by Concord. Previously distributed by Concord, Berkner has struck a deal to bring her full catalog to the independent Concord, forming a long-term partnership with the company.

27 Writers Of 9 New Musicals Announced For Rhinebeck Writers Retreat

Founding Executive Director Kathy Evans announced the 27 writers of nine new musicals for Rhinebeck Writers Retreat's summer weeklong residencies. This year's artists include Obie-winner Heather Christian, Kleban-winner Brian Crawley, TV and film writers Bekah Brunstetter (THIS IS US) and Cinco Paul (DESPICABLE ME), inaugural Stephen Schwartz Award winner Oliver Houser, and ASCAP Foundation scholarship winner Khiyon Hursey. The musicals cover a wide range of subjects. Four have LGBTQ themes: a historical look at Florida in the 1950s (IN A SUNSHINE STATE), a Palestinian/Israeli love story (BORDERS), a modern coming of age of a young black man (SEAN'S STORY PART I | THE AWAKENING), and a fantasy queer rock musical celebrating lady love (TL;DR: THELMA LOUISE; DYKE REMIX). Two are darkly comedic historical musicals: one featuring Mary Magdelene (A.D. 16) and the second a WWII plot to foil Hitler (OPERATION MINCEMEAT). Other subjects include the opioid crisis (ALMOST HEAVEN), the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 (THE GOLDEN SPIKE), and a mystery involving a woman with a sleep disorder (NARCOLEPSY).

National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene Unveils 2019-2020 'Season Of Spiritual Resistance'

On the heels of its spectacular, sold-out run of the Yiddish presentation of Fiddler on The Roof, National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) has announced the 2019-2020 season. For the first time ever, NYTF will present a season with four mainstage productions with a flexible season subscription. The productions, concerts and readings were curated to accompany the incoming exhibit Auschwitz: Not long ago. Not far away on display at the Museum of Jewish Heritage beginning on May 8, 2019.
