Exhibition Of Southern California Impressionism Opens At Langson IMCA On June 11

UC Irvine Jack and Shanaz Langson Institute and Museum of California Art (Langson IMCA) will reopen its interim gallery at 18881 Von Karman Avenue on June 11, 2022, with the special exhibition Variations of Place: Southern California Impressionism in the Early 20th Century. The gallery has been closed since February 13, 2022, due to renovations in the Airport Tower building where Langson IMCA is currently located.

BWW Review: THE WIFE OF WILLESDEN, Kiln Theatre

“All were worthy men in their degree.” The Canterbury Tales is a collection of stories written by Geoffrey Chaucer in 1392, all linked by the central narrative of a pilgrimage from the Tabard Inn in Southwark to Thomas A Beckett's shrine in Canterbury Cathedral; it features characters such as the Knight, Pardoner, Miller, and Merchant – though Zadie Smith has chosen to base her new play on one of the few female characters. The Wife of Bath becomes the Wife of Willesden.

Shakespeare's Globe Announces Full Casting For Summer 2019 Tour

Brendan O'Hea returns to direct Globe on Tour, where a company of eight actors will once again offer audiences around the world a trio of plays which this year explore the themes of refuge and displacement. Continuing last summer's experiment, which revived the Shakespearean tradition of allowing audiences to vote for the play they'd like to see, this year's audiences will cast their votes for The Comedy of Errors, Twelfth Night or Pericles, all stories of lost families, new homes, and what it means to belong. The tour will return to the Globe stage for Refugee Week (17 - 23 June) as part of a wider programme of events in which refugee artists, performers and audiences will all share their stories.

CUCKOO Explores Non-Binary Identity and Teenage Life in Ireland at Soho Theatre

This November, Catriona Ennis (Dublin by Lamplight, Corn Exchange; Test Dummy, Theatre Upstairs, Dublin; Wild Sky, Irish Arts Centre New York and Irish tour) will star as loud-mouthed Iona in the exciting world premiere of Cuckoo and joining her as Pingu, Iona's silent tuxedo-wearing, non-binary best friend, will be Elise Heaven (The Little Bookshop, UK tour; PASSPAWT, Brighton Fringe; She's a Good Boy, Camden Fringe Festival) who also identifies as non-binary. Also joining the company are Colin Campbell (Disco Pigs, Trafalgar Studios and Irish Repertory Theatre, New York; Scotties, Scottish tour; Dublin by Lamplight, Abbey Theatre) as Pockets, Sade Malone (4 O'Clock Club, CBBC; The Queen and I, Sky; Seasons in the Sun, East Riding Theatre) as Toller and in his professional stage debut Peter Newington will star as Trix. Directed by Debbie Hannan (Things of Dry Hours, Young Vic; The Session, Soho Theatre; Who Cares, Royal Court), Cuckoo is from the distinctive new comic voice of debut playwright Lisa Carroll. Exploring gender identity, Carroll also dissects the true cost of belonging and reflects on how hard it is to break away from the place you grew up.
