News Road Theatre Company Returns With Live Staged Readings UNDER CONSTRUCTION

The Road Theatre Company is back with in-person readings on its Magnolia stage! It’s been over 18 months since the theatre doors have been closed but The Road Theatre - led by Founding Artistic Director Taylor Gilbert, together with Sam Anderson, Artistic Director - is leading the charge with 2 weeks of new work developed within its “Under Construction” group.

Artists throughout the state of California are uniting for the passage of Senate Bill 805 (SB 805), titled, “The Performing Arts Relief Act,” which the Senate Labor Committee will vote on Wednesday, April 19, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in Sacramento, CA.   A Coalition of 36 small 99-seat non-profit theaters and freelance performers are banding together to make theater accessible to all.

The next entry in the Off the Page series of virtual staged readings produced by Sierra Madre Playhouse is Yellow Face by David Henry Hwang. You will be to access it online via YouTube beginning at Noon on Wednesday, July 8, 2020. Viewing time will continue throughout the day until 11:59 p.m. The event is 120 minutes in duration with a ten-minute intermission. You may begin viewing at any time, but you must commence viewing by 10:00 p.m. in order to see the entire reading.

This Spotlight focuses on Andrea Stradling, a Los Angeles-based actor formerly in health care public relations who fully understands and appreciates the dedication and sacrifices being made by those on the frontline treating patients in the Covid-19 pandemic. And like so many other actors, the show in which Andrea was performing had to end its run earlier than expected, opening up unplanned time in her schedule to fill with online theatrical opportunities.
