Quintessence Theatre Group, Philadelphia's professional classic theatre, concludes Season XIII: Celebrating the Extraordinary with a world premiere of Paul Oakley Stovall’s Written by Phillis, directed by Cheryl Lynn Bruce. A new play exploring the life and poetry of America’s first published Black poet Phillis Wheatley, Written by Phillis is presented in association with Chicago’s New Classics Collective, opens tonight, May 13. Colton Ryan, an alum from The Kentucky Governor's School for the Arts (GSA), has been nominated for a 2023 Tony Award, the highest honor in live Broadway theater. Ryan received the nomination for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical category for his current role as Jimmy Doyle in the new Broadway musical, New York, New York.

Washington, a new family drama by up-and-coming playwright, Eric Ratee, opened last weekend at The Attic at The Tank. Due to the overwhelming success of their sold out run, Washington will return in limited engagement from Saturday, May 6 through Sunday, May 7 at the coveted downtown Off-Off Broadway 'Tense Theatre,' run by Beckett Rosset. Get ready to step back in time with Flowers in Your Hair - A 60's Musical Revue at the Players Guild of Leonia. From May 19th through the 21, 2023, the Guild will showcase this exciting production at its theater located at 130 Grand Ave., Leonia, NJ 07605.
