The Belasco Theatre was the place to be as Broadway celebrated the opening of the final musical of 2023. How to Dance in Ohio – inspired by Alexandra Shiva’s Peabody Award-winning documentary of the same name – is now officially open on Broadway. Multi-Grammy Award winning music icons Ludacris and Paula Abdul have joined P3 Productions, and Tony Award-winning entertainment mini-studio Level Forward, on the producing team of the new Broadway musical How to Dance in Ohio.

The Autism Society of America has announced that the cast and crew of the new Broadway musical, How to Dance in Ohio will be honored with The Daniel Jordan Fiddle Foundation Leader in Adult Autism Award for 2023 on December 1st, 2023, at the Belasco Theater in New York City.

Theatre Producers of Color (TPOC), the newly formed organization committed to supporting the next generation of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) producers by providing access to education, training, and mentorship, announced the return of their annual educational program – “Producing 101,” where aspiring producers are able to learn the fundamentals of commercial producing, including development paths, financing, budgeting, and more, with experienced BIPOC and White ally leaders as their guides, tuition free over 11 weeks.

Obie Award-winning director and playwright, Stevie Walker-Webb, will helm the new musical Gun & Powder.  Following a sold-out run at Washington D.C.’s Signature Theatre in 2020, reading presentations for the production will take place in New York City on December 15 and 16.

Plays by Rogelio Martinez, Ty Defoe, Jessica Bashline and Craig Thornton highlight Syracuse Stage’s 2022/2023 Cold Read Festival of New Plays, Oct. 18 – 23.

The creative team has been finalized and  tickets are now on sale for the world premiere musical How to Dance in Ohio. The musical is scheduled as the 2022-23 season opener at Syracuse Stage this fall, and will run Sept. 21 – Oct. 9, 2022.
