In an isolated home in the countryside where dreams are in tatters, hopes dashed, hearts broken and there is nowhere left to turn, the only option is to turn on each other.

Nick and Ruth are spending the weekend at a remote cabin in the woods. They push their relationship to breaking point in a night of stories and fights, only to rediscover their need for one another in the morning, but the final reconciliation remains uncomfortably tempered by the violent core we now know to be hiding beneath.

This July, Bristol Old Vic joins forces with Bristol Old Vic Theatre School for a remarkable collaboration and startling production of three very different versions of Chekov's The Seagull, marking 125 years since its first performance.

The Jamie Lloyd Company has announced that, due to the ongoing impact of the pandemic, Anya Reiss' adaptation of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull and Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House, in a version by Frank McGuinness are both now postponed.

The Mercury Theatre Colchester and Josef Weinberger Plays are  joining forces once again to present a new playwriting development programme, designed to nurture and grow new creative talent in the East of England.

Robert Glenister is currently treading the boards at the Playhouse Theatre in Anya Reiss's adaptation of Chekhov's The Seagull. Starring alongside Game of Thrones's Emilia Clarke and Indira Varma, The Seagull marks Glenister's second production with director Jamie Lloyd. Glenister's recent theatre credits include Alys, Always at the Bridge Theatre and Pinter Four as part of Lloyd's Pinter at the Pinter season. BroadwayWorld spoke with Glenister about the production, adapting Chekhov, and the importance of star casting for commercial theatre.

The Jamie Lloyd Company and Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) today launch Jamie Lloyd Company: Emerge, a talent development programme to break down barriers for those seeking creative roles and offer a first step into the industry.

Public booking opens tomorrow, Tuesday 28 January at 10am via the ATG Tickets website for The Jamie Lloyd Company's production of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House, in a version by Frank McGuinness, and starring two-time Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe Award-winner Jessica Chastain.
