BWW Review: HENRY VIII, Shakespeare's Globe

As the most notorious monarch in British history, Henry VIII's rule was tyrannous and imposing. Known for his colossal physique and consort of six unlucky wives, Henry Tudor has long stood as an example of the damage done by brutish men with excessive power. His reputation as a prolific abuser of women has inspired an array of assertive feminist theatre and this offering by Shakespeare's Globe is no exception.

Adam Gillen will play King Henry VIII, returning to the Globe stage following his acclaimed performance of Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet in 2021. Adam’s other theatre credits include Killer Joe (starring Orlando Bloom) in 2018 for which he was Olivier nominated for Best Supporting Actor, and the National Theatre’s acclaimed production of Amadeus, opposite Lucian Msamati.

Alan Stacey To Step Down As Executive Director Of Headlong

Alan Stacey has today announced that he will be stepping down as Executive Director of Headlong in March 2022 after six years with the company. During his tenure Stacey has helped bring some of Headlong's most critically acclaimed work to over 900,000 people in theatres across the UK.

Broadway Records announced today the release of the new single “We Begin Again” from the musical film of the same name. Jeremy Herrin Will Stand Down As Artistic Director Of Headlong

Jeremy Herrin announced today that after 7 years as Artistic Director of Headlong he will be stepping down in 2020 to pursue a career as a freelance director. During the seven years Herrin has led the company it has experienced remarkable success with his own productions such as the ground-breaking The Nether which played at the Royal Court and in the West End; the multi-award-winning People, Places and Things by Duncan Macmillan which played at the National Theatre, on tour in the UK, in the West End and at St Ann's Warehouse; Jack Thorne and Stephen Warbeck's Junkyard on tour in the UK; James Graham's This House on tour in the UK and in the West End; and Graham's Olivier Award-Winning play Labour of Love in the West End.

BWW Review: MR GUM AND THE DANCING BEAR - THE MUSICAL!, National Theatre

The Dorfman stage at National Theatre transforms into Lamonic Bibber for the summer break. Mr Gum - a grumpy man who hates children and any kind of fun - traps Padlock the bear, Polly's new, unexpected friend and forces him to dance to entertain Gum's crowds of sailors and scallywags. Aided by her loyal friends, the nine-year-old embarks on a perilous journey to save Padlock and take him back to his home in the forest.
