New York style Musical Theatre piano bar (open mic) with Nathan Martin at the piano and a roster of West End hosts…Starting Sunday afternoons at The Canal Café Theatre. 

The 12 finalists have been revealed for the Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year competition - affectionately known as SSSSPOTY. The gala final of this year’s competition - the first since the passing of legendary composer Stephen Sondheim - will be held, fittingly, in the Sondheim Theatre, on 30 May, 2022.

The award-winning, experienced West End cast includes Julian Bleach [co-creator of the Olivier Award-winning Shockheaded Peter, The Grinning Man] as Mysterious Man, Audrey Brisson [Olivier nominee for Amélie, Outlander] as Cinderella, Nicola Hughes [Olivier nominee for Fosse and Porgy and Bess] as the Witch, Rhashan Stone [All About Eve at the Noël Coward, Finding Alice] as the Baker, and Alex Young [Follies at the National Theatre, South Pacific] as the Baker's Wife.

An all new video has been released from inside rehearsal for the upcoming production Anyone Can Whistle! The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry and the UConn Puppet Arts Program will present an online version of its popular UConn Fall Puppet Slam on Oct. 22, 2021 at 8 p.m. ET on the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry Facebook Live.

Brand-new musical comedy Bluff, written exclusively for radio by Matt Cavendish and Ed Zanders is available to download on Monday 18 October, following a full studio recording with West End cast and musicians at Masterchord Studios London. The full radio-play, complete with foley sound effects, is designed to take the listener on a vivid journey through a larger-than-life world, accompanied by a live studio orchestra.

The production is led by Gina Beck (Matilda, Show Boat, Wicked, Phantom of the Opera) as Nellie*, Julian Ovenden (Bridgerton, Downton Abbey, Merrily We Roll Along, Grand Hotel, BBC Proms) as Emile, Joanna Ampil (Cats, Les Misérables, Miss Saigon) as Bloody Mary, Keir Charles (Quiz, Back To Life) as Luther Billis and Rob Houchen (Les Misérables, The Light in the Piazza) as Cable. 

Following the news that Gina Beck is pregnant, Chichester Festival Theatre has announced that in the forthcoming production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific, she will rehearse and open the role of Nellie Forbush as planned with performances from 5 July and a press night on 13 July. From 5 August, Alex Young will share the role of Nellie and take over full-time from 23 August for the remainder of the run.

Bluff is a madcap romp through a surreal universe in which everyone lies about everything all of the time. Everyone that is apart from Alec who has been raised 'honest'. As he desperately tries to navigate what is real and what is not, It becomes clear that he must come to terms with his own dark secret, as the world starts to unravel around him. 

For those that missed last Sunday’s 2021 WhatsOnStage Awards, there is an opportunity to watch the event with four upcoming encore screenings – in honour of World Theatre day on 27 and 28 March at 3pm and 7pm. Tickets are £15 and are on sale now.

As a reflection of our times, 21st Annual WhatsOnStage Awards were not only live streamed from The Turbine Theatre this evening, but, in this unique ceremony, a select group were honoured as Angels, following nominations from the public.

After nearly a year without a full production due to COVID-19, CenterPoint Legacy Theatre in Centerville welcomes back theater goers for a beautiful rendition of THE SECRET GARDEN, spring version, by Marsha Norman and Lucy Simon, directed by Jansen Davis.
