Musica Viva NY celebrates Leonard Bernstein's centennial with Bernstein at 100: In friendship with Copland on Sunday, March 10 at 5:00 p.m. at The Brick Church. The Musica Viva NY Choir, led by Artistic Director Alejandro Hernandez-Valdez, is featured in music by two iconic American composers of the 20th century, Leonard Bernstein, and Aaron Copland. The concert includes Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, and Make Our Garden Grow, as well as the chamber version of Aaron Copland's Appalachian Spring, and Concerto for Clarinet, Strings and Harp.

The venerable playwright Josefina Lopez is will be tapping into new ground as a writer with her latest collaborative work, the World Premiere of REMEMBERING BOYLE HEIGHTS, an audience participatory, immersive and theatrical celebration, created and devised by Josefina Lopez, Corky Dominguez and the REMEMBERING BOYLE HEIGHTS Ensemble. Contemporary gentrification debates unlock the early history, stories and memories of Boyle Heights revealing the mythical and human dimensions of L.A.'s own Ellis Island of the West.

Josefina Lopez, Co-Founder of the Boyle Heights Museum and Founding Artistic Director of CASA 0101 Theater and Dr. George J. Sanchez, Co-Founder of the Boyle Heights Museum and a USC Professor of History and American Studies, announced today they will present their third exhibition for the Boyle Heights Museum, ROYBAL: A Multi-Racial Catalyst for Democracy, to be housed in the Jean Deleage Arts Gallery in the lobby of CASA 0101 Theater, 2102 East First Street (at St. Louis Street), Boyle Heights, CA 90033. Musica Viva NY kicks off its 2018-19 season with Songs of Love, an evening of lieder by Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann, and P.D.Q. Bach, on Sunday, September 23 at 5:00 p.m. at All Souls Church. The concert features soprano Devony Smith, mezzo-soprano Michele Eaton, tenor Nathan Siler, and baritone Brian Mextorf, accompanied by Artistic Director Alejandro Hernandez-Valdez and Trent Johnson.

Jersey City-based actor Alejandro Hernandez, a 2008 alumnus of Mercer County Community College (MCCC), will return to the college on Friday evening, Oct. 13, to share some of what he's learned in the past decade as his acting career has taken off.
