BWW catches up with Richard Marsh to chat about bringing Yippee Ki Yay to the 2022 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Standing in the Rocklin History Museum, reading a handout about a local ghost story and chatting with docents in late summer 2021 was the inspiration for T.S. Forsyth’s new play Ghosts of Placer County, featured at Placer Rep’s HAUNTING HISTORY show on June 29 at the Parkview Room in Rocklin’s Johnson-Springview Park.

This June, Pitlochry Festival Theatre is set to stage for the first time in over 30 years; a glittering new production of one of the greatest comedies ever written - Noël Coward's Private Lives.

According to The Guardian, the late actor Alan Rickman's twenty seven diaries are set to be published in one book. Canongate publishing now has the rights, and the work is set to be published in the fall of this year. The book, now titled 'The Diaries of Alan Rickman' encompasses over twenty five years of the actor's personal writings, including discussions about his career and personal life. The entries began in the first half of the 1990s and continued until his death in 2016. Rickman began the diaries with the intention that they would be published one day. 

CCAE Theatricals and the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, will host a private industry reading of Bottle Shock! The Musical on Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15, 2022.

 Museum of the Moving Image has announced See It Big: Sondheim, a ten-film series devoted to the celebrated composer, lyricist, author, artist, and all-around innovator Stephen Sondheim. When Sondheim died last November, he didn’t just leave behind an extraordinary corpus of work—he had exited a world that his art had forever changed.

Popcorn Group have announced that they will be partnering with BBC Writersroom for the first time this year. The Award offers a prize fund of £6,000 to the best of new writing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Everyone has their holiday traditions, Dear Readers. Whether it’s trimming the tree or eight nights of presents, or ice skating with the ones you love, these are important events that make our holidays merry and bright. Well, last year, like with so many, our holiday traditions got replaced by staying away from everyone and many events being shut down due to … well, you know. But I’m overjoyed to say that one of my favorite holiday traditions is back this year and just as insane as ever, the annual production of “A Very Die Hard Christmas” from Jeff Schell and the folks from The Habit. Now for some bad news, the show is already completely sold out. But all is not lost as I have it on good authority from Mark Siano, the producer, writer, director, composer, and narrator of the piece, that they have a waitlist of no show tickets each night. But we’ll get into the details of that in a bit, first, to the show.

In celebration of United Solo Theatre Festival's return to its resident stage/home at Theatre Row in New York's theatre district, Omar Sangare, the Festival's founder and artistic director, joined forces with actor and singer Wendy-Lane Bailey to create “Five Minutes: Snapshots in Time”. Acclaimed London-based producer, composer, and cellist Peter Gregson today releaseD his fifth studio album Patina on Deutsche Grammophon. Patina is the first of Gregson's albums specifically created to be listened to in Dolby Atmos and was mixed at the legendary Abbey Road Studios.

Thom Schilling, the general manager, production supervisor and stage manager for dozens of Broadway, Off-Broadway and global tours for over 40 years, died in his sleep on August 19 in New York City. The cause of death is not presently known. Born in 1956, Thom was 64 years old.

​​​​​​​CCAE Theatricals, the new in-house theatrical arm of the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, has announced its 2021/22 season, featuring 4 Main Stage musicals and a developmental reading.

Hosted at northern venues Manchester Royal Exchange and Northern Stage, Newcastle, and part of its National Programme, two new bursaries will see the recipients work alongside, and receive mentorship from Roy Alexander Weise MBE and Maria Crocker, both previous beneficiaries of the JMK Trust.

RED BULL THEATER today announced that its offerings will continue on Monday May 3rd at 7:30 PM with a RemarkaBULL Podversation, Exploring CYMBELINE with Lily Rabe. She will join host Nathan Winkelstein, Red Bull’s Associate Artistic Director, for a conversation focused on an essential passage from Shakespeare's Cymbeline.
