Music Institute of Chicago Laureates Set for Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival this Summer

This summer the Music Institute of Chicago's prestigious Trio Solaris, comprised of the Institute's top Fellow Laureates, will travel to the internationally renowned Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in Becket, Massachusetts, to perform live alongside Trey McIntyre Project (TMP) in The Vinegar Works: Four Dances of Moral Instruction, a Harris Theater-commissioned work. Trey McIntyre Project will present its final six performances at Jacob's Pillow, June 25-June 29, in a program that will include The Vinegar Works and Mercury Half-Life, a ballet set entirely to the music of rock band Queen. Thanks to the generous support of a Harris Theater benefactor, all travel-related costs for the members of Trio Solaris will be covered during the trip.

Leddy Center Dedicates Opening Performance of ON GOLDEN POND to Paul Lefevre

Opening night of On Golden Pond will be dedicated to the memory of Paul Lefevre, who starred in 17 productions at Leddy Center. Paul passed away in December and we urge all who remember Paul to attend this special opening night as we celebrate his life by dedicating this performance to him. Leddy Center for the Performing Arts is proud to present local NH playwright, Ernest Thompson's, On Golden Pond, today, March 14-23.

The 'Beat' Goes On at Harris Theater with The Chicago High School for the Arts Today

Today, March 6 at 12PM, the talented young students of The Chicago High School for the Arts (ChiArts) kick off the third Eat to the Beat performance of the 2013-2014 season at the Harris Theater. Some of Chicago's best food trucks will be on site to provide concertgoers with a wide selection of delectable, cheap eats for families and professionals living and working in the downtown area. This season's Eat to the Beat food partners have included The Fat Shallot, Husky Hog, Taquero Fusion, and More Cupcakes.

Harris Theater to Remain Closed Through 3/6

The Harris Theater for Music and Dance will remain closed through Thursday, March 6 to repair damaged operational and mechanical equipment caused by an electrical fire that occurred yesterday afternoon. Patrons will be contacted by a Harris Theater representative with further information regarding ticket purchases and upcoming performances.

Hamburg Ballet's THIRD SYMPHONY OF GUSTAV MAHLER Cancelled at Harris Theater Due to Electrical Fire

Today and tomorrow's performances of the Hamburg Ballet's Third Symphony of Gustav Mahler has been cancelled due to an electrical fire that caused damage to the Harris Theater's operational and mechanical equipment earlier this afternoon. The illustrious company was scheduled to perform Artistic Director and Chief Choreographer John Neumeier's iconic ballet tonight, February 19, and tomorrow, February 20 at 7:30PM. Harris Theater ticket holders will be contacted by a Harris Theater Box Office representative as a result of the cancellation.

Pam Tanowitz Dance makes its long awaited Joyce Theater debut from tonight, February 4 - 6. Presented by The Joyce Theater Foundation, this engagement will include a program of two new works by Tanowitz, a choreographer known for creating work that juxtaposes ballet with classic modern dance. The pieces, both world premieres, will feature live accompaniment.

Alonzo King LINES Ballet Returns to Harris Theater with Two Chicago Premieres, 2/27-28

San Francisco-based Alonzo King LINES Ballet, led by visionary Founder and Artistic Director Alonzo King, will present two alternate programs at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, one on Thursday, February 27 at 7:30PM and the other on Friday, February 28 at 7:30PM, featuring two of the company's newest interdisciplinary collaborations: The Thursday night performance welcomes acclaimed Israeli mezzo-soprano Maya Lahyani in her Chicago debut, and Friday night highlights an original score performed live by Grammy Award-winning double bassist Edgar Meyer in a Chicago premiere.
