BIO
Yokko is an actress, Movement & Butoh Artist, solo performer from Nagoya, Japan. She has acted in, devised and choreographed a variety of local and international shows, having won several awards, including “Best One-Woman Show” for her Butoh Medea (United Solo 2014 at Theatre Row). Butoh Medea was selected to perform at *United Solo Europe in Warsaw, Poland in June, 2015, then toured to Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2015. (21 shows. sold out 5 shows, selected for the short list of The Asian Arts Award) Other theatre credits include BALDY (Center of Remembering & Sharing; United Solo 2013; Hollywood Fringe 2013; FringeNYC 2012; Dorothy Strelsin Theatre), Butoh Electra (Irondale Center; FringeNYC 2011), The Woolgatherer (ASDS Repertory Season), Odyssey (The Wings Theatre) and many others. Dance credits include Isis Variations (Fringe NYC 2014); Facet (Hollywood Fringe 2013; Wave Rising Series); Autumn Leaves (Kraine Theatre) and Kizuna: Connection (NICODA). Yokko also acted in several of local and international films, one of which was the first runner up in the 2014 72-hour Shootout at the Asian American Film Lab (Himitus). She is a proud member of The Ume Group as well as the founder and artistic director of Ren Gyo Soh in NYC.

Do you want to play a game? Well Shakespeare's faeries and mystical creatures are upset because last year The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company only produced one show and it wasn't even a comedy! To make up for this, they are magically forcing four of mortal actors from NYC to play a chaotic game where they must perform the roles of the Four Lovers and the Rude Mechanicals from 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'! It will be a night of theatrical chaos full of music, laughter and dance!

On Monday, September 16, 2019, The New York Innovative Theatre Foundation announced the 2019 recipients at the annual Off-Off-Broadway IT Awards. For the past 15 years, the It Awards have celebrated the vibrant and creative indie theatre community under the dedicated leadership of Executive Directors Shay Gines and Nick Micozzi who are stepping down and at the ceremony introduced new leadership for the organization: Cat Parker, Artistic Director of Articulate Theatre Company; Ariel Estrada, Producing Artistic Director of Leviathan Lab Projects; and Jazmyn Arroyo, Co-Founding Artistic Director of Step 1 Theatre Project will join Akia Squiteri, Artistic Director of Rising Sun Performance Company as Directors of the organization.

A New York Times survey found Switzerland to be the “Best Country in the World” in 2017 and Swiss singer/songwriter Bastian Baker won't argue. His native country allowed him to go down to Montreux with “Funky Claude,” play pro hockey, foxtrot on Dancing With The Stars (France), perform for Hilary Clinton and earn the title of platinum-selling recording artist. He's shared his positive demeanor and lighthearted songs with the world, performing over 850 shows in 40 different countries - including Shania Twain's ongoing Now world tour - and finding himself a little along the way. Always eager for a new adventure, the 27-year-old set his sights on uncharted territory in the U.S. and landed in the city that has always fascinated him: Nashville. He makes his official American debut today with the release of his self-titled fourth studio album, available across all digital retailers now.

Curated by Butoh artist Vangeline, the Festival will consist of an exciting program of butoh workshops and masterclasses, as well as four nights of groundbreaking performances by fierce female butoh dancers from October 18-21, 2018 at the Theater for the New City's Johnson Theater, 155 1st Avenue, NYC, 10003.
