Heloise Wilson's AMERICAN STANDARD Will Be Presented at Ren Gyo Soh's New Reading Series

Heloise Wilson's American Standard, is chosen to present at Ren Gyo Soh's Reading Series 2. This reading series is started and led by Saki Kawamura, Associate Artistic Director and a Japanese immigrant artist, to explore and develop new voices from immigrant artists. The series encourages risk-taking and an open spirit towards creating new work, including the process of getting feedback from the audience for the further development.

Art And Ecology Festival UNFIX NYC 2022 Returns for 6th Season, May 21

UNFIX NYC is back for the 6th season. UNFIX NYC seeks to address Ecological crisis and renewal through our Bodies, Minds & Souls. The evening will include dance, theatre, butoh, interdisciplinary arts, music, film, visual arts, and a panel discussion. From physical expression exploring the tension between nature and civilization, to an academic discussion, the audience will be immersed in the many and varied facets of ecological connection.

International Art And Ecology Festival: UNFIX NYC 2021 Runs June 11th-27th

UNFIX NYC comes back after a year-long break! The 5th season of the festival takes place online this year to collaborate with UNFIX festival, UNFIX Bologna, and UNFIX Tokyo. This festival aims to create an awareness of ecology through the arts, with live performance, film, visual arts, and site-specific events.

Do you want to play a game? Well Shakespeare's faeries and mystical creatures are upset because last year The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company only produced one show and it wasn't even a comedy! To make up for this, they are magically forcing four of mortal actors from NYC to play a chaotic game where they must perform the roles of the Four Lovers and the Rude Mechanicals from 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'! It will be a night of theatrical chaos full of music, laughter and dance!

SPRING AWAKENING, SHINKA & More Win Off-Off-Broadway IT Awards

On Monday, September 16, 2019, The New York Innovative Theatre Foundation announced the 2019 recipients at the annual Off-Off-Broadway IT Awards. For the past 15 years, the It Awards have celebrated the vibrant and creative indie theatre community under the dedicated leadership of Executive Directors Shay Gines and Nick Micozzi who are stepping down and at the ceremony introduced new leadership for the organization: Cat Parker, Artistic Director of Articulate Theatre Company; Ariel Estrada, Producing Artistic Director of Leviathan Lab Projects; and Jazmyn Arroyo, Co-Founding Artistic Director of Step 1 Theatre Project will join Akia Squiteri, Artistic Director of Rising Sun Performance Company as Directors of the organization.

The visionary mind of performing artist, Yoshiko Usami (AKA Yokko), brings another far-reaching movement and dance piece to New York. EN, sponsored, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council, running September 13-15 at Brooklyn's Triskelion Arts, 106 Calyer Street in Brooklyn reflects the deep connections we achieve in our lives - intentionally and unintentionally - positive and negative - for just one moment or for our entire lives.

The New York Innovative Theatre Awards Celebrates 15 Years & The 2019 Award Nominees

On Monday, July 29, 2019, The New York Innovative Theatre Awards, announced the 2019 nominees for the annual Off-Off-Broadway awards. The It Awards have celebrated the vibrant and creative theatre community for the past 15 years.  The official announcement took place at (Le) Poisson Rouge by six celebrated artists and producers from the community including: Jazmyn Arroyo, Jennifer Betite Yen, Iyvon Edebiri, Chris Ignacio, Ashley Rogers, and Erez Ziv.

Shakespeare Meets Butoh In HIDE YOUR FIRES: BUTOH LADY MACBETH

Yokko, the Japanese Butoh and theatre artist, returns to Hollywood Fringe Festival this year with her new show, Hide Your Fires: Butoh Lady Macbeth. Yokko has been appearing in the Hollywood Fringe since 2013, and this is the 3rd season participating at this festival. Bastian Baker's American Debut Album Releases Worldwide Today

A New York Times survey found Switzerland to be the “Best Country in the World” in 2017 and Swiss singer/songwriter Bastian Baker won't argue. His native country allowed him to go down to Montreux with “Funky Claude,” play pro hockey, foxtrot on Dancing With The Stars (France), perform for Hilary Clinton and earn the title of platinum-selling recording artist. He's shared his positive demeanor and lighthearted songs with the world, performing over 850 shows in 40 different countries - including Shania Twain's ongoing Now world tour - and finding himself a little along the way. The New York Butoh Institute and Vangeline Theater present the New York Butoh Institute Festival 2018, a celebration of diversity in butoh featuring 16 artists from Japan, Brazil, Chile, UK, Israel, Italy, Germany, France, Costa Rica, Spain, and the United States. Curated by Butoh artist Vangeline, the Festival will consist of an exciting program of butoh workshops and masterclasses, as well as four nights of groundbreaking performances by fierce female butoh dancers from October 18-21, 2018 at the Theater for the New City's Johnson Theater, 155 1st Avenue, NYC, 10003.
