Emile de Becque is a role in South Pacific, a musical that opened West End in 2011.

This breathtaking and lavish Lincoln Center Theater production reinvented Rodgers & Hammerstein’s classic musical, sweeping the 2008 Tony Awards, playing to sold-out houses on Broadway for two years and being broadcast across America. With a cast of 40 and a live orchestra of 25, the landmark show makes its long-awaited London and European debut at the Barbican this summer for a strictly limited seven week season. The Metropolitan Opera director and Tony Award-winner Bartlett Sher directs three of the original Broadway stars. Paulo Szot reprises his Tony Award-winning role as ‘Emile’ (sharing with Welsh baritone Jason Howard), alongside Loretta Ables Sayre as ‘Bloody Mary’. Also features the British musical theatre artists Samantha Womack and Alex Ferns (both in Donmar Warehouse’s Guys and Dolls).
