What did our critic think of HADESTOWN at CONNOR PALACE (Cleveland)? When HADESTOWN, opened on Broadway on April 17, 2019, it was met with critical acclaim. Reviews contained such terms as 'inventive,' 'gorgeous, 'hypnotic,' 'high energy,' 'utterly fabulous' and 'immersive.' What did LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS is the kind of show that many love to hate while others love it.  The topics of abuse and drug use, which are not in the wheelhouse of musicals, sometimes turn people off, as does the phy-sci-centered plot.  The GLT production is as good as you are going to get.  It solidly hits all the comic and horror notes.  It’s a must see for the script’s fans! our critic think of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at Great Lakes Theater?

Great Lakes Theater (GLT) opens its 61st season with the delectable musical comedy Little Shop of Horrors, performing in the company's intimate and audience-friendly home at the Hanna Theatre, Playhouse Square, from September 16 – October 9, 2022. 

Beck Center for the Arts is pleased to announce its 2022-2023 Professional Theater Season, the 89th season which includes Tony Award® Winners, comedies, dramas, return of the blockbuster Elf the Musical, and the twelfth collaboration with Baldwin Wallace University Musical Theatre program.  

To celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of their collaboration, Baldwin Wallace University and Playhouse Square come together to present the Cleveland premiere of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical at Playhouse Square’s Helen Theatre.

I am ordering my cap and gown today for the Baldwin Wallace University commencement in May. Leaving this great theatre community is a sobering thought, but the spring semester is so busy there are plenty of distractions.

The Cleveland Orchestra announces its 2022 Blossom Music Festival season presented by The J.M. Smucker Co. with a lineup of concerts. Nineteen concerts are currently part of the 2022 Blossom Music Festival, which runs from the Fourth of July through Labor Day weekend (July 2 – September 4) at the Orchestra’s scenic summer home nestled in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Going “into the woods” with too much happening on campus! My November theme takes me into the woods, literally, figuratively, and theatrically. The passing of Steven Sondheim on November 26th at the age of 91 makes this blog dedication even more important to me.
