Tlaloc Rivas BIO

Tlaloc Rivas is a Chicano theatre-maker and creative producer focused on

theatrically adventurous work for the stage and currently brings this experience

as an artist, leader, mentor and educator at the David Geffen School of

Drama at Yale University. Born and raised in Tijuana/San Diego, Tlaloc is a

playwright, director, dramaturg, advocate and co-founder of the Latinx

Theatre Commons. He is the recipient of the Sir John Gielgud Fellowship in

Classical Directing, the NEA/TCG Career Development Program for Directors

and a Usual Suspect of New York Theater Workshop. Advanced training

includes the SITI Company Summer Intensive at Skidmore College, the

María Irene Fornés Institute, La Mama Umbria Summer, NALAC Leadership

Institute, Mabou Mines Resident Artist Program, Cornerstone Theatre

Company Summer Institute, and Anti-Racism workshops with Equity Quotient

and artEquity. Tlaloc is also an Associate Professor in Residence at

UConn and serves on the boards of The New Harmony Project and Latiné

Musical Theatre Lab NYC. He is a member of Dramatists Guild and the

Society of Stage Directors & Choreographers. Education: B.A. (with Honors)

WOMEN IN JEOPARDY! at Merrimack Repertory Theatre

Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) continues its 2016-17 Season with the absolutely off-the-wall "Women in Jeopardy!". Merrimack Repertory Theatre and Director Tlaloc Rivas push all the right buttons to give the audience a scary ride. The outstanding design elements create an atmosphere that is spooky on many levels, and Rachel Napoleon is convincing as the troubled young accuser trying to escape her past.
