Ichiro Kataoka, one of the world’s handful of practitioners of the lost art of the Japanese benshi, will perform at Film Forum with three Yasujirō Ozu silents:  I WAS BORN BUT… (1932) and the comedy short 'A Straightforward Boy' (1929) on Monday, June 19 at 8:15 and THAT NIGHT’S WIFE (1930) on Tuesday, June 20 at 6:20.

At long last, THE ESSENCE will be making its official Off-Broadway bow at the WP Theater, 2162 Broadway (at 76th Street). Performances will begin October 10th, with the official Opening Night set for Sunday, October 17th at 7 p.m., and will continue for 10 weeks only through December 23rd.

This July, National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene will bring together more than 140 actors, singers and musicians from across globe for a sensational, one-time event - A Yiddish Renaissance: A Virtual Concert Celebration - filled with music and appearances by some of the most renowned Yiddish performers.

On Tuesday, August 13, the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) will present a staged reading of The Miracle in the Warsaw Ghetto (Der Nes In Geto), which tells the story of the historic Warsaw Ghetto Uprising through one family and their neighbors

Following the break-out success of the Yiddish production Fiddler on the Roof and the world premiere of the jazz opera Dear Erich, the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) continues this season's presentations with a concert exploring Yiddish theatre's golden age with From the Yiddish Rialto to the Silver Screen on Sunday, March 10 at 2 pm., performed Off Broadway at the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, Edmond J. Safra Plaza, 36 Battery Place, NYC. This event is part of Carnegie Hall's Migrations: The Making of America festival.

National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF), the longest consecutively producing theatre in the United States and the world's oldest continuously operating Yiddish theatre company, announced the stellar cast for the free, world premiere staged reading of Paddy Chayefsky's 1959 Tony Award-nominated play The Tenth Man, newly translated into Yiddish by Eleanor Reissa and Harvey Varga, on Tuesday, November 13 at 7 pm at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, Edmond J. The YIVO Institute for Jewish Research presents The Essence of Yiddish Theater, a theatrical introduction to Yiddish language and Yiddish theater. The performance will take place on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 7:00pm at YIVO's location at the Center for Jewish History (15 West 16th Street).

Directed by NYTF Associate Artistic Director, Drama Desk Award-nominee Motl Didner, with music direction by NYTF Artistic Director Zalmen Mlotek, The Sorceress will be presented as a work-in-development, performed in Yiddish with English and Russian translation supertitles, for 5 performances only, beginning Monday, December 25, 2017 through Monday, January 1, 2018 in the Edmond J.
