After a sold-out run during last season's Solo Celebration! Series, celebrated Chicago actress Linda Reiter reprises her Joseph Jefferson nominated performance as matriarch Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy in this intimate piece directed by Steve Scott. The League of Chicago Theatres held the 2018 Annual Gala, an elegant event that brings together friends of Chicago theatre to raise funds for programs to support Chicagoland's more than 250-member theatre companies. Rehearsals are underway for Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA) second play of the 2018-19 season, which asks, When you feel lost, how do you find your way? Steppenwolf for Young Adults Artistic Director Hallie Gordon and Gabrielle Randle co-direct We Are Proud to Present A Presentation About the Herero of Namibia, Formerly Known as South West Africa, From the German S dwestafrika, Between the Years 1884 - 1915, which will include a tour to six Chicago neighborhoods in partnership with Steppenwolf Education City Connections partners, BUILD, Inc, the Chicago Park District and Chicago Public Library. Each stop on the tour is open to the public and will include a community workshop, a performance of the play and a post-show discussion.

The Chicago Park District today announced the second playwright to be selected for a developmental partnership as part of Theater on the Lake: In the Works. Tina Fakhrid-Deen and her play in development, Dandelions, will receive two staged readings and a developmental production presented during the 2020 summer season. The first staged reading is scheduled for December 16 at 7 p.m., at Mandrake Park, 3858 S Cottage Grove, in the Bronzeville neighborhood. The reading is free and open to the public.
