In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Folger Theatre is altering the programming schedule for its 2020/21 'On the Road' season of plays. In working to ensure the well-being and safety of patrons, Folger Theatre, along with its project partners the National Building Museum and the University of South Carolina, have made the decision to postpone the 2020 summer production of A Midsummer Night's Dream and the National Building Museum's Summer Block Party, featuring the Folger Shakespeare Playhouse, to Summer 2021.

The National Building Museum announced today its partnership with Folger Shakespeare Library, in association with the University of South Carolina, to design the 2020 Summer Block Party exhibition for the Museum's Great Hall. Shakespeare's Playhouse, will be the seventh in the Museum's annual summer series and the stage for Folger Theatre performances from July 4 through September 7, 2020.

Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) continues its 2019-20 season with Tom Stoppard's Shakespeare in Love, adapted for the stage by Lee Hall and Marc Norman. Vincent Tycer will direct. Performances will be held in the Harriet S. Jorgensen Theatre from November 21st through November 23rd, and December 4th through December 8th, 2019. Theatre for Humanity, a new, non-union, not-for-profit NYC-based theatre company announces its inception and inaugural season. The season opens with a fall production (due to rights restrictions, the title cannot be included in this press release), followed by a winter staged reading of the world premier of The Far Horizon, a play by Alfred Litwak, and concluded by a spring production: a musical adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, adaptation by Louis Butelli, Chas LiBretto, Nathan Winkelstein and Robert Richmond.

The University of South Carolina's Department of Theatre and Dance presents THE CRUCIBLE at Longstreet Theatre! The Arthur Miller play first premiered on Broadway in 1953, and went on to win a Tony Award later that year for Best Play. Inspired by the then-current events of the Red Scare, Miller chose to write allegorical play about the Salem Witch Trials. THE CRUCIBLE opened February 2nd, and will continue to run through this Saturday, February 10th.
