Philip Estrera

BIO

Philip Estrera is a NYC-based actor whose theater credits include Strangers in the Night with Hunger & Thirst Theatre, Monstress with the American Conservatory Theater, and Orphan of Zhao, La Jolla Playhouse. He was recently in the Sesame Street Thanksgiving special as Anton the bus driver, which introduced the first Asian American puppet to the series. He also narrated the short story “The Water That Falls on You From Nowhere” for Macmillan Publishing; and can be seen in episodes of Blue Bloods and the web series Characteristically. Estrera is a graduate of the American Conservatory Theater’s MFA program.

Hunger & Thirst Theatre has announced the launch of IN ONE EAR, which can be viewed until March 21. IN ONE EAR is an artistic version of the childhood game of Telephone. Hunger & Thirst Theatre commissioned four artists to create, one after the other, a digital performance.

Voyage Theater Company/PARTS UNKNOWN Play Reading Series will present a staged reading of Republic of Georgia by Georgian playwright/novelist Dato Turashvili, translated by Madonna Tkhelidze, directed by Adam Knight, at the 53rd Street New York Public Library (18 West 53rd Street, across the street from MoMA), Thu April 18 at 7pm. Admission is FREE and open to the public, but reservations are highly encouraged. Please RSVP here. The performance will run approximately 60 minutes with no intermission. There will be a brief talkback with the playwright and director immediately following the reading.

Now in its 37th year, this version of A Christmas Carol, adapted by Paul Walsh and Carey Perloff, stays true to the heart of Dickens's timeless story of redemption and brings a playful sensibility to his rich language. A Christmas Carol runs December 6-28, 2013, at A.C.T.'s Geary Theater (415 Geary Street, San Francisco). Press night is Wednesday, December 11 at 7 p.m. VIP seating is available for all performances. American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Conservatory Director Melissa Smith announced today that the A.C.T. Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) Program has been selected by Anatoly Smeliansky, dean of the Moscow Art Theatre School, to perform at Moscow Art Theatre School's 2012 Stanislavsky Festival, to be held in Moscow today, October 15-21, 2012. This year's festival, titled "Open Class: Stanislavsky Continues," honors the 150th birthday of Konstantin Stanislavsky, founder of the Moscow Art Theatre. The A.C.T. M.F.A. Program has the distinguished honor of being the only theater school selected to represent the United States.
