Review: ARTAUD / VAN GOGH at The Simeio Theater
by Peter Danish - Nov 5, 2025
Recently, Broadway and Off-Broadway have seen a preponderance of one-man-shows; some wildy imaginative some not so much. This critic has grown just a bit tired of the formant becuase far too frequently they come across as little more than vanity projects for an actor (often playing, with varying degrees of success, multiple characters.
Review: SUPREME LEADER at Mile Square Theatre
by Peter Danish - Oct 20, 2025
What does it mean to inherit absolute power before you’ve even figured out who you are? Don X. Nguyen’s Supreme Leader, now playing at Mile Square Theatre in Hoboken under Sarah Shin’s incisive direction, transforms a slice of geopolitical absurdity into something deeply personal, funny, and unexpectedly moving. It asks what happens when a boy destined to become one of the world’s most feared dictators still just wants to paint, ski, and maybe fall in love.

by Peter Danish - May 31, 2024

Review: THE CENCI FAMILY at The Tank
by Peter Danish - May 20, 2024
What did our critic think: This is cutting edge theater of the highest order. Dangerous and daring, it’s more than simply Avant Guard, it is timeless and contemporary at the same time – the kind of theater that makes you sit up on the edge of your seat and pay attention.
Review: SIMON RATTLE AND THE BRSO AT CARNEGIE HALL at Carnegie Hall
by Peter Danish - May 15, 2024
Simon Rattle is possibly the most interesting conductor before the public today. And one thing audiences can count on is that no two performances he conducts will ever be identical. There is no question that he brings forth fire and magical playing. There is no question he bring forth colors that you never heard in a piece before. But sometimes, one wonders if its all simply design just to sound different, not necessarily better than the rest.
Review: LET THERE BE LOVE at Penguin Rep
by Peter Danish - Oct 9, 2023
What did our critic think of LET THERE BE LOVE at Penguin Rep? Quite often dramas concerning race, immigration, family squabbles (and other issues that we can’t reveal here without spoiling) tend to be in-your-face, preachy and heavy-handed. “Let There Be Love” is a play about all of the former, with none of the latter. It is charming, moving, hilariously funny and full of tremendous heart.
