BIO

As an actor, Michael Raver has performed at Lincoln Center, The Pearl Theatre Company, Tony Randall’s National Actor’s Theatre, regional theaters across the country and in film and television. His most recent television appearance was on TURN: WASHINGTON'S SPIES. As a writer, Raver's adaptation of The Picture of Dorian Gray was produced by Sonnet Repertory Theatre at the Signature Theatre Center in 2012, and a reading of his pre-WWII adaptation of Chekhov's The Seagull was presented by the Pearl Theatre Company. His play, Fire on Babylon, was nominated for The Robert Chesley/Victor Bumbalo Foundation Award for Playwriting, as well as being named a semifinalist for The O'Neill Conference in 2015. His short play, Evening, was a finalist for Red Bull's New Play Festival. He is also a judge for the Ferro-Grumley Award for LGBT Fiction and regularly contributes cultural arts journalism for Classical TV, as well as pieces for NYC Monthly, Hamptons Monthly, Playbill, Dance Magazine, Cool Hunting, The Huffington Post and Nature's Post. He is from New York.

World Premiere Play LOVE, MEDEA to Debut in New York Next Week

split/decision (Rachel Shuey, Founding Producer) starts the first full week of the New Year by kicking off their very first season with a world premiere play. In Peter Gray's Love, Medea, the title character finally reclaims her own narrative after millennia of being villainized in Euripides' now-canonical original text. Directed by Michael Alvarez, the epic narrative of classical drama's most infamously mischaracterized woman begins performances Monday, January 6 at The Center at West Park (165 West 86th Street) for a limited run through January 18. Tickets, starting at $25, are available at CenterAtWestPark.org.
