Luna Stage will reopen for in-person performances on their MainStage on March 11th, exactly two years after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the temporary closure of their building. The first event in the main space of the professional regional theatre will be a reading of long-term collaborator Nikkole Salter's play Torn Asunder on March 11th and 12th at 8pm, followed by a conversation with the playwright.

Pushcart Players artistic director, Paul Whelihan will be performing the role of Mr. Mushnik in the Short North Stage production of “Little Shop of Horrors.” This sci-fi, cult-hit musical comedy will play from March 17 through April 16 at the Garden Theater in Columbus, OH.

In response to Essex County's current high COVID numbers, Luna Stage has made the decision to reschedule its in-person production of #RIFT Part 2: The Live Experience by Gabriel Jason Dean. Originally slated for February, #RIFT Part 2 will now take place in April. In January and February, Luna will launch additional cycles of #RIFT Part 1: A Play Over Text Message. Audience members can sign up for this free virtual experience at www.lunastage.org/rift.

Premiere Stages, the professional theatre company in residence at Kean University, has named current Kean University student Jennifer Pillaga (Class of ’22) and alumnus Elaine Insinnia (Class of ‘68 ) as the winners of the 2022 Bauer Boucher Playwriting Awards, named for longtime donors W. John Bauer and Nancy Boucher.

Luna Stage will present the world premiere of Nikkole Salter's Carnaval - a play that was inspired by the author's discovery of the underground world of sex tourism and man-cations in Brazil. The play was developed in part through Luna Stage's New Moon Play Reading Series. Luna Stage Associate Artistic Director/Director of Play Development, Cheryl Katz, will direct. Previews for Carnaval begin tonight, January 31st, 2013. The production runs Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 3pm through March 3rd, 2013, with the official press opening on Friday, February 8th.
