The Howard County Arts Council will commemorate 20 years of its Rising Star Performing Arts Competition at the 25th annual Celebration of the Arts in Howard County on Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 6 to 10 pm at the Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center at Howard Community College (HCC) in Columbia.

The video is the second installment of the band’s new series, “Far Out West Sessions,” which consists of seven stripped-down versions of songs from their acclaimed album, Welcome to Countryland (stream/purchase here). Produced by Fernando Garcia and filmed by Garcia and John Park at unique locations across the Trans-Pecos region of Texas, “Far Out West Sessions” finds the band celebrating to their roots—returning to their home state to perform these songs in their purest form.

Fort Worth Opera (FWO) and the McCammon Voice Competition Committee regrettably announced today that the 2020 Competition has been cancelled due to uncertainties surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.

The McCammon Voice Competition judges have chosen the twenty-nine semi-finalists for the nineteenth biennial competition. Initially scheduled for April 3 and 4, the 2020 competition will be moved to the fall of this year, in light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The de Blasio Administration today announced the launch of the IDNYC renewal campaign, new and returning benefit partners, and the IDNYC Middle School Card. With the fifth anniversary of the IDNYC program approaching and the first set of cards set to expire beginning in January 2020, the program has also introduced a new card design and a comprehensive, citywide advertising and targeted outreach campaign to promote renewals. IDNYC is the largest and most successful municipal ID program in the country with over 1.3 million cardholders.

Mad Cow Theatre continues its twentieth season with ANIMAL CRACKERS, a musical adapted from the Marx Brothers' film of the same name. The plot centers around a party honoring Captain Jeffrey T. Spaulding, which is attended by larger-than-life guests, originally played by the Marx Brothers. Mad Cow is known for producing lesser-known shows. ANIMAL CRACKERS  was originally produced on Broadway in 1928, before the Golden Age of musicals. It has a vaudeville feel--broad comedy, from puns to prop comedy to outrageous physical humor.
