Battery Dance celebrates the 40th Anniversary of its free summer festival from August 12-20, 2021, in partnership with Battery Park City Authority. The 40th Annual Battery Dance Festival features 16 international dance films from August 12-14 at 7pm ET via YouTube. 40 in-person and livestreamed performances will be staged at Robert F. Wagner, Jr. Park, New York City, from August 15-20 at 7pm ET. In total, 32 premieres by 53 dance companies are offered to international audiences, promoting Battery Dance’s mission of connecting the world through dance.

Christopher Myers is an artist and writer whose work across disciplines is rooted in storytelling. Myers delves into the past to build narratives that speak to the slippages between history and mythology. His diverse practice spans textiles, performance, film, and sculptural objects, often created in collaboration with artisans from around the globe.

King Lahiri Productions, LLC held an online industry read on April 25th to kick off filming their new short film Short-Haired Domestic Silver Tabby. The short focuses on the unique isolation of grieving during COVID, and how grief for a pet is often judged in society.

Les Miserables is set to tour in Vietnam! The French musical is set to be performed for audiences across the country after it debuted in Hanoi at the end of 2020 and early 2021.

Chance Theater will be working with Aurora Theatre Company for the first time to produce a livestream staged reading of Dustin Chinn’s Colonialism is Terrible, But Pho is Delicious. The show is being directed by Chance Theater’s Artistic Director Oanh Nguyen and will have one performance on Saturday, February 13th at 5:00 p.m.

BendFilm announced today a lineup full of creative ways to see films outside in the comfort of a car or in the open air of Tin Pan Alley. FOOD LORE, an eight-episode series from HBO Asia, explores human emotions with narratives inspired by Asian cuisines. Shot from the perspective of eight different storytellers, each episode takes an alternative approach to showcasing the tales and taste of Asia through drama, satire, and comedy.
