The Apollo Theater and SiriusXM announced today that they will present Say It Loud…With Your VOTE!, a bi-partisan political special at the Apollo on Thursday, November 1 at 7:00 pm. The exclusive event, produced in association with SiriusXM, is part of the Apollo Theater Uptown Hall series and will air across multiple SiriusXM channels debuting on November 2.
Chita Rivera to be Honored by The New York Landmarks Conservancy

On November 1, 2018, The New York Landmarks Conservancy will host its 25th Living Landmarks Celebration at The Plaza. In addition to Chita Rivera, this year's honorees are Stephen S. Lash, Lynden B. Miller, Liz & Jeffrey Peek, Thomas Sculco MD, Ruth Lande Shuman, Michael I. Sovern and Peter Stangl. The host for the evening is Living Landmark David Patrick Columbia, and music will be provided by Living Landmark Peter Duchin and his Orchestra. Living Landmarks Arie L. Kopelman and Leonard Lauder are Honorary Co-Chairs for the evening. More than 500 guests are expected to attend this 25th annual tribute.

The American Songbook Association (ASA) is proud to present its first Annual Gala, The Joint Is Jumpin'!, a joyous celebration of contributions to the American Songbook by Black songwriters and notable singers. The ASA will also present its first annual Lifetime Achievement Award to singer Marilyn Maye. The award will be presented to Maye by her longtime friend, fashion designer, Bob Mackie. The event takes place at The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center, 480 W. 42nd Street, New York City, on September 17, 2018 at 7:30 PM. Lightswitch Learning honors National Poetry Month with the release of their recently published children's picture book, The Boy Who Opened Our Eyes. The book was inspired by a poem written by the author, Elaine Sussman, over 60 years ago for a fifth-grade homework assignment. The book fulfills Ms. Sussman's lifelong dream of sharing the story of her blind younger brother, Mark, with the goal of encouraging kids to achieve greatness regardless of any disabilities or challenges they may face.

In recognition of the country's dynamic and diverse culture and in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Nelson Mandela's inauguration, this season's festival will spotlight today's contemporary South African music scene and Harlem's enduring cultural and social relationship with the country. Featuring a suite of artistic programming and an array of unique artists, Africa Now! South Africa will provide a holistic experience for audiences with presentations on the Apollo's mainstage and soundstage.
