What did our critic think of A STITCH IN TIME at Theater For The New City?

Theater for the New City's award-winning Street Theater Company will open its 2023 annual tour Saturday, August 5 with 'Life on the Third Rail, or A Subway Delay to the Future,' a rip-roaring original musical which tells a story in which a violent hurricane floods the subways, sending a heroic subway crew into a new world.

Theater for the New City, which has been Toby Armour's theatrical home since 1988, will present the world premiere run of Freedom Summer June 8 to 25. Joan Kane directs a cast of six.

With the roster still building, Theater for the New City has currently scheduled over 200 performing arts organizations, independent artists, poets, puppeteers and film makers for its 28th annual Lower East Side Festival of the Arts, which will be mounted May 26 to 28 in and around Theater for the New City, 155 First Ave. (at E. 10th Street). From April 27 to May 14, Theater for the New City will present an innovative August Strindberg Rep production of Strindberg's 'Creditors.' The 1888 drama will be updated to modern Long Island in this adaptation, which is newly translated and directed by Robert Greer.
