BIO

Chris Kapp, originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, has been seen on stages throughout the eastern half of the nation, and internationally, for the past three decades. She has performed in Ohio, Kentucky, Florida, South Carolina, Maine, New York, New Jersey, London, and Pennsylvania.

Stage credits include The Velveteen Rabbit; Steel Magnolias; MASH; The Crucible; Our Town; The Music Man; The Thirteenth Chair; Steel Magnolias, Macbeth Did It; Cinderella; Annie; Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; Beauty and the Beast LIVE!; Jonah; Jesus, Joshua and the City; Wise Guys and Starry Skies; The Greatest Story Ever Told; A Christmas Carol; Scrooge in Bethlehem; The Unexpected Houseguest; Not a Fan; 9 to 5; The Vagina Monologues; A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, and A Prayer; Good Morning Jerusalem, Into the Woods, The Full Monty, Sister Act, Cabaret, The Importance of Being Ernest, and others.

She has also appeared on screen in The Palace and Empire Falls, and has narrated several audiobooks.

Directorial credits include The Vagina Monologues, Joshua and the City, The Unexpected Houseguest, Good Morning Jerusalem, Anne of Green Gables, Once Unspoken, It's a Wonderful Life, Harvey, and #IWillBeYourVoice: Stories of Homelessness and Hope.

Writing credits include Good Morning Jerusalem and The Unexpected Houseguest, along with the stage adaptation of Once Unspoken by Marissa McCool. Her latest project, #IWillBeYourVoice: Stories of Homelessness and Hope, has gathered traction in both the theatre and social services world, bringing awareness to the hidden issue of child homelessness in the US.

Chris and her little red poodle Gander currently split their time between Central PA and New York City.

The New York Times was first to report that celebratory plans have been set for the groundbreaking musical HAIR's 50th Anniversary which will take place on January 21, 2017 at La MaMa. The event will include original cast members (Natalie Mosco; Allan Nicholls; the Rev. Marjorie Lipari; and Dale Soules), Andre De Shields, the show's creators Galt MacDermot and James Rado and more.

TNC to Tribute Norman Glick, Celebrate Ronald Tavel's New Andy Warhol Book, 11/30

On November 30 at 8:00, Theater for the New City will present a tribute to director/actor Norman Glick (1946-2015) and the book launch of Ronald Tavel's last book, 'Andy Warhol's Ridiculous Screenplays' (which has a forward by Marc Siegel). The evening will include video of noted performances of Tavel plays and a medley of 'Gorilla Queen' and other Theater of the Ridiculous tunes by Norman Marshall. The evening will be hosted by Chris Kapp, who was the long-time director of 'Coffeehouse Chronicles' at La Mama.
