Review: South Coast Repertory Presents World Premiere of EAT ME
by Michael Quintos - Apr 26, 2026
First developed and workshopped at South Coast Repertory’s annual Pacific Playwrights Festival in 2025, celebrated new “it” playwright Talene Monahon’s freshly birthed play EAT ME is currently being presented at OC’s Tony Award-winning regional theater as a fully-formed World Premiere production directed by Caitlin Sullivan. The new work continues performances at its Costa Mesa home through May 3. Equally intriguing and confounding, the brand new play, honestly, comes off for me as one of those creatively-ambitious but somewhat incomplete stage experiments that left me with more questions than answers.

BWW Q&A: Libby Carr of CALF SCRAMBLE at Primary Stages
by Joshua Wright - Apr 7, 2026
In a dusty East Texas barn, five teenage girls are raising calves for auction — and wrestling with what it means to be good at school, at God, and at girlhood. That's the world of Calf Scramble, the fiercely original new play by Libby Carr now running at 59E59 Theaters through April 12, presented by Primary Stages in association with Jamie deRoy. Directed by Caitlin Sullivan, this darkly funny coming-of-age tale is soaked in sweat, scripture, and competition, where faith tangles with survival and tenderness bucks like a wild animal.

Review: THE ANTIQUITIES at Goodman Theatre
by Rachel Weinberg - May 15, 2025
Jordan Harrison’s new play THE ANTIQUITIES asks the question, “What does it mean to be human?” It opens with two museum curators inviting the audience to tour a museum displaying relics from the late human era...with the implication that said place exists in a post-human one. This is the first play I’ve seen that specifically tackles A.I. and technology...and the potential ramifications of letting that go unchecked.
