The UK Pantomime Association has announced the nominations for The Pantomime Awards 2023 in association with Butlin’s, ahead of the awards ceremony at the Trafalgar Theatre, in London’s West End, on Tuesday 11 April 2023 at 7pm, hosted by Christopher Biggins.  

This Christmas, actress, author and vlogger Carrie Hope Fletcher will be making her pantomime debut as villain Carabosse in Sleeping Beauty at The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury. 

Carrie Hope Fletcher will be performing in her first ever pantomime when she joins the cast of Sleeping Beauty at The Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury.  The show, which is co-produced by The Marlowe and Evolution Productions, is written and directed by Paul Hendy. It will be opening in Canterbury on Friday 25 November. 

It was revealed today that Joanne Clifton will be playing the role of Fairy Sugarsnap in Jack And The Beanstalk, which is co-produced by The Marlowe and Evolution and opens on Friday 26 November. 

Duncan is well-known as a member of pop group Blue. The band formed in 2001 and have had 40 number one singles worldwide, three number one UK albums and sales of over 16 million records. They took a break in 2005, before reforming to represent the UK at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest.  

Over the twelve days that Nurse Nellie Saves Panto was available to stream (23 December to 3 January), an estimated 91,000 people viewed the production – around the same number that experience the live pantomime each year at The Marlowe.

The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury has announced changes to the opening date of its fun-sized, socially distanced pantomime Nurse Nellie Saves Panto.  

Tickets went on-sale for the much-anticipated Nurse Nellie Saves Panto on Monday 12th October and eager pantomime fans have snapped up over 12,000 tickets in the first week of sale.

Nurse Nellie Saves Panto, running between Friday 11 December to Sunday 3 January, will be performed to a socially distanced audience and will star much-loved panto legend Ben Roddy who has played the Dame in The Marlowe's pantomimes for the last ten years. He will be joined by a cast of other Marlowe pantomime favourites, to be announced soon.

This week, The Marlowe in Canterbury launched a parody video The Mother Goose Party Political Broadcast, which has already reached more than 45,000 people on social media.

The Royal Shakespeare Company has today announced further casting for its forthcoming double-bill of Restoration plays, John Vanbrugh's The Provoked Wife and Thomas Otway's Venice Preserved. The Provoked Wife, directed by Phillip Breen, plays in repertoire from the 2 May 2019 with Venice Preserved, directed by Prasanna Puwanarajah, running from 24 May 2019 in the Swan Theatre.

Auditions for Cinderella are being held at The Marlowe Studio from 9.30am on Saturday 8 September. Girls should be aged between nine and 15 (inclusive on 1 September) and be able to commit to the production from the start of rehearsals until the end of the run (8 November to 6 January).

Ben Roddy - best known as The Marlowe's pantomime dame - is to star in Return Of The Unknown, a major new work to mark the centenary of the Armistice.
