Alfred Molina BIO

Alfred Molina is a British actor with an impressive career on stage, television, and film. Born in London in 1953, Molina grew up in a working-class family and began his acting career in the 1970s. He attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and started his professional career in theater.

Molina's Broadway debut was in 1998, when he played the role of Yvan in the Tony Award-winning play "Art" by Yasmina Reza. He received critical acclaim for his performance and was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play. Molina returned to Broadway in 2004 to star in the revival of the classic play "Fiddler on the Roof," playing the role of Tevye. His performance was once again well-received, and he earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical.

Molina has also made a name for himself in film and television. He has appeared in over 100 films, including "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "Spider-Man 2," and "Chocolat." He received critical acclaim for his role as Diego Rivera in the 2002 film "Frida" and was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Molina has also had success on television, appearing in shows like "Law & Order: LA," "Feud: Bette and Joan," and "Angie Tribeca."

In addition to his work in theater, film, and television, Molina has also lent his talents to voice acting. He has voiced characters in animated films such as "Rango," "Monsters University," and "Frozen 2." Molina has also done voice work for video games, including "Spider-Man 2" and "The Da Vinci Code."

Molina's talent and versatility have earned him numerous awards and nominations throughout his career. In addition to his Tony Award nominations, he has been nominated for a BAFTA Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Golden Globe Award. He was also awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in 2017 for his services to drama.

Despite his success, Molina remains humble about his work. In an interview with The Guardian, he said, "I'm just a jobbing actor. I'm not a star. I'm not a celebrity. I'm not a personality. I'm just somebody who works in the business." He also credits his success to his upbringing, saying, "I come from a background where hard work is valued, where you don't get something for nothing. You have to work hard for it."

Molina's dedication to his craft and his ability to bring depth and authenticity to his roles have made him a respected and beloved figure in the entertainment industry. Whether he's playing a comedic character in a television show or a dramatic role in a film, Molina's performances are always memorable and impactful. His contributions to Broadway, in particular, have solidified his place as one of the great stage actors of his generation.
