In an era dominated by belt-driven spectacle, coloratura soprano Lindsey Johr honors the artistry of Barbara Cook — one of Broadway’s most luminous interpreters of the American songbook.
Praised for her “glass-shattering heights” (Florida Theatre On Stage) and described as “her performance is what you will walk away remembering” (EDGE Miami), Johr brings her crystalline soprano and nuanced storytelling to I Can Cook Too — an intimate evening celebrating the golden age of legit musical theatre.
In collaboration with special guest artists, including Broadway veteran Sean McDermott (Miss Saigon, Falsettos, Starlight Express, Grease, Chicago, West Side Story), Johr weaves personal reflection into selections from She Loves Me, The Music Man, Candide and Follies, honoring Cook’s iconic repertoire and the artists she inspired.
I Can Cook Too traces the evolution of the ingénue into the fully realized woman — revealing that sweetness and strength are not opposites, but partners.
Musical direction by Danny K. Bernstein.
Featuring Erich W. Schleck, Samantha Streich, Laurence London and Sean McDermott.
