Hang It Up written by Taina Carrion-Perez and directed by Edgar Alvarez will be playing in Program 13 at The Chain Theatre as a part of their Summer One-Act Play Festival on July 11th at 8pm, July 19th at 5pm, and July 27th at 8pm. Program 13 will also include Peter Doyle's Incredible Head by David Andrew Laws and Breaking the Chain by Howard Lempkin, Jr.. Their final performance will be livestreamed and will include a talkback with the cast and crew! You can use discount code HANG25 to receive 20% off of tickets only bought online for both the in-person and livestreamed performances. The one-act play centers around Rainey, played by Jacquernst F. Filias, a professional wrestler who has sacrificed his body for the business of professional wrestling over the span of ten years. While trying to regain his memory after a history-making and career-ending match, his wife, Crystal, played by Massiel Cruz, needs to help him face his worst fear: retirement. The role of the Doctor will be played by Jaelin Taylor and the President will be played by Steven Rutledge. Last March, Hang It Up had its world premiere staged reading at the Makers' Ensemble's Intimate Artist Nights, and the team of cast and crew are beyond excited to be bringing this story about men's mental health, the boundaries between personal life and work life, and the consequences of choosing one over the other to the stage in this production. This is Taina's second production at The Chain Theatre this year. Last February, Taina made her playwriting off-off-Broadway debut with her one-act play, Little Lina, directed by Gaia Cooper.
