Crazy About You at The Producers' Club

A new romantic comedy about Sigmund Freud and psychoanalysis by award-winning playwright William Cane. Based on a true story about what happened when Sigmund Freud allowed Wilhelm Fliess to perform surgery on Emma Eckstein’s nose under the misguided assumption that it would cure her of hysteria. Although Dr. Fliess loves Emma, he almost kills her with the operation.

This is also the first time the Unconscious appears onstage in a theatrical production. Throughout the play, the Unconscious tries to get Freud to stop writing and lecturing about it—because it wants to work unseen and undiscovered by the mass of humanity! It even goes so far as to make Dr. Sandor Ferenczi (one of Freud’s inner circle) fall madly in love with Freud's sixteen-year-old daughter Anna, all in an attempt to harass and annoy the father of psychoanalysis.
