Galli Theater's Fairy Tale Show Held At Bruckner Restaurant
Kids of all ages will be enchanted by Galli Theater's fairy tale shows this spring at the Bruckner Restaurant, in the trendy Port Morris neighborhood of the Bronx. Kids and parents can enjoy an unprecedented, interactive spin on the beloved fairy tales, followed by a 45-minute acting workshop for the kids. "The family-friendly atmosphere of the Bruckner Restaurant is the ideal backdrop for Galli Theater's socially relevant themes as brought to life by the madcap array of princesses, frogs, witches and kings," said Tracey Mathis, Bronx resident and owner of targetmommy.com.
SNOW WHITE (February 12 at 2 p.m.)This uplifting remake of the original Grimm's story encourages kids to beware of strangers. In this twist on the familiar story, a man dubbed Mr. 7-Dwarf rescues Snow White, not once, not twice, but three times. Meanwhile, the king places an ad in the newspaper in hopes of finding a beautiful wife. FROG PRINCE (February 19, 20, and 26 at 2 p.m.)
Children and adults will be delighted by the silly antics of the princess, the king and a very animated frog. Galli's Frog Prince encourages children to express their feelings and overcome their fears. "This play leaves audiences spellbound by the life lessons it reveals," said Tatjana Maya MD, director of Galli Theater. CINDERELLA (March 5, 6, and 12 at 2 p.m.)
Galli's Cinderella is an uplifting remake of the original Grimm story about a pure-hearted girl who loses her mother but finds her prince. Underlying this story of overcoming hardships and finding love, there is the concept of bullying. Cinderella is constantly ridiculed and bullied, just as many children are today. But in the world of theater and the Galli method of acting, this may not be such a horrible thing.
Hansel and Gretel are alone in the forest when they discover the famous Gingerbread House. Kids get to help them trick the wicked witch in this interactive and fun show. THE WORKSHOP
In the after-show workshop children are encouraged to dress up in costumes and act out their favorite fairy tale characters. The 45-min workshop is followed by a mini performance for the adults. Playwright, clown, and director Johannes Galli has been bringing fairy tales to kids for almost 25 years. Believing that fairy tales are healing for children, he uses the original story but changes the "grim" version into a humorous play that entertains kids and adults alike and has a fun and educational message in the end. "Fairy tales go beyond religious, cultural, and literary developments and are still relevant in today's society," said Johannes Galli. "At Galli Theater it's our mission to help children and adults reconnect with the ancient wisdom of these tales and myths."
