Developed and first presented at The Actors Studio in 2003, Edge, written and directed by Paul Alexander, opened off-Broadway on September 9 at the ArcLight Theatre. Edge has played to audiences around the world, from the United States and England to New Zealand to Australia. Prior to engagements in Los Angeles and San Francisco, followed by a second tour of Australia and New Zealand, all in 2008, Edge returns to the New York stage for five weeks only starring Angelica Torn in her award-winning performance.
"The one-woman play deals with Plath's life as a whole, including her early years in Boston, the untimely death of her brilliant father, and her infamous suicide attempt of 1953, which became the basis of her classic novel, The Bell Jar. Edge also examines her tumultuous marriage to the dark, enigmatic poet, Ted Hughes, and ultimately reveals the unsettling sequence of events that ended with her death," state press materials. The show plays Tuesday Saturday at 8PM, Saturday at 2PM, and Sunday at 3PM at the ArcLight Theatre (152 West 71st Street). Tickets are $50, and $35 for seniors and $25 for students. Reservations can be made at TheaterMania/OvationTix at (212) 352-3101 or (866)811-4111, or www.edgeonstage.com.Photos by Mark Rupp
