SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN - The Green Room Community Theatre

Auditions Scheduled for Smoke on the Mountain

The Green Room is pleased to announce auditions for the funny and touching musical Smoke on the Mountain on Sunday, February 26 and Monday, February 27, 2012 at 7pm. The show, set in the 1930’s, is all about the Sander’s family and their adventures as a gospel singing family.

Roles are available for men and women from late-teens on up. Singers who can harmonize and are also musicians are preferred. Please prepare two pages of a hymn or gospel song, and if you can play an instrument, bring it to audition with also. A piano and accompanist will be provided for those needing one. There may also be some cold reading from the script.

Auditions will be held at the Old Post Office Playhouse located at 10 South Main Avenue, Newton, NC 28658. Please enter at the lower level door at the back of the building (on South Ashe Avenue). Please be prepared to stay for the entire audition time.

Performance dates for Smoke on the Mountain are April 20, 21, 27, 28, May 4 & 5 at 8pm and April 21, 22, 28, 29, May 5 & 6 at 3pm. Please note there are two performances on Saturdays, April 21, 28, and May 5. You must be able to be at all performances of the show. Please be prepared to stay for the entire audition time.

Smoke on the Mountain is being directed by Hollie Sherrill and produced by Peoples Bank and Drum and Willis-Reynolds Funeral Homes and Crematory. It is written by Connie Ray, conceived by Alan Bailey, with musical arrangements by Mike Craver and Mark Hardwick.
