SHOW INFO: Inspired by the songs of Elvis Presley and based on William Shakespeare's 1602 play “Twelfth Night”, “All Shook Up!” is a two act American jukebox musical comedy built around a number of songs made famous by Elvis Presley. It's NOT a biographical revue. It takes place in 1955, somewhere in middle America, where one girl's dream and a surprise visit from a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar-playing stranger help a small town to discover the magic of romance and the power of rock & roll. Among the 27 songs featured in the score are classics like"Heartbreak Hotel,""Love Me Tender,""Don't Be Cruel,""Can't Help Falling in Love," and of course the title tune “All Shook Up”. ROLES: NOTE: All Principal/Supporting roles below require STRONG SINGERS who can act & move/dance. CHAD (20's): A great-lookin', motorcycling, guitar-playing, leather-jacketed roustabout. MTD's production of All Shook Up WILL NOT be using an Elvis impersonator for this role, so please audition as you would for any other fun, pop-rock musical! NATALIE HALLER (20's): A pretty young woman and an excellent mechanic. She's much more at home in greasy overalls than a dress. JIM HALLER (mid 40's-50's): Natalie's widowed father. Middle-aged and messy, he still longs for his wife. SYLVIA (mid 40's): the no-nonsense, African-American owner of SYLVIA'S HONKY-TONK. LORRAINE: Sylvia's 16 year-old African-American daughter. Pretty, smart and a total romantic. DENNIS (late 20's): An awkward young man. He aspires to be a dentist. MISS SANDRA (late 20's): The beautiful, intellectual caretaker of the town's museum. MAYOR MATILDA HYDE (mid 40's-50's): The town's conservative mayor. DEAN HYDE: Matilda's 16 year-old son. He has grown up at a military boarding school and he has never disobeyed his mother. SHERIFF EARL (mid 40's-50's): The law in town. A man of not many words and he loyally follows the Mayor wherever she goes. ENSEMBLE: NOTE: All Ensemble roles require STRONG DANCERS who can sing & act. MTD is looking for a large cast of diverse women and men for the town that include exciting singing, dancing and “vocal-featurettes” during the show.
