In their 26th open-air touring season, and renowned all over the world for their clarity, quality and ingenuity, Illyria return to their home-turf: Shakespearean comedy.
Shakespeare's shortest, funniest and most riotous comedy in which two sets of identical twins, separated at birth, are unknowingly reunited, and more and more people are sucked into a vortex of mistaken identity.
After 25 years Illyria is still the only open-air touring company to have won 4 international theatre awards for their Shakespeare productions, and whose director is a published writer on Shakespearean verse-speaking. Illyria leaves all-male casting back where it belongs (in the 16th century), drawing instead from the widest talent-pool available – which includes female actors as well as male.
