The Moving Company is at 1600 18th Ave NE #18305, Minneapolis, MN.
The Moving Company is devoted to creating new and imaginative theatre that is grounded in the present, rooted in its creators’ shared past and always questioning the possible. Each piece pulls from different source material; whether an adaptation of a novel or short story; a re-imagination of a classic text; or a creation built from scratch. In all of our endeavors we pursue a unique vocabulary using improvisation and play, space, image, movement, language and music to investigate the poetic and human - pushing the theatrical form. We believe in the evolution of our work, how one piece speaks to the next, allowing us to continually challenge our own history while moving forward. The Moving Company has developed and is implementing a model for making new work for the American theatre. This model is comprised of three phases: research and development at home and through partnerships with colleges and universities around the country, small scale production with the professional artists of The Moving Company in Minneapolis, and large scale touring presentations through partnerships with national producing/presenting organizations.
