New SAM'S SON Musical Features Prohibition, Pretzels and (Root) Beer

Jeremiah and Vanessa Gamble, the creative team behind Kingdom Undone, and 'Til Death: A Marriage Musical, present their newest labor of love, Sam's Son, a Prohibition-era Americana musical loosely inspired by the biblical story of Samson.  While this musical is not that story specifically, it is inspired by themes in the original story- purity, hypocrisy, judgment, and liberation. Jeremiah says, "I saw that the Prohibition era echoed those same themes and has striking parallels with our country today."

Fortune's Fool To Produce THE LADY WITH A LAP DOG

Fortune's Fool Theatre will produce the world premiere of a new musical, The Lady with a Lap Dog, book and lyrics by Daniel Pinkerton and music by Robert Elhai, adapted from the story by Anton Chekhov. It will be performed at the Open Eye Figure Theatre in Minneapolis for 8 performances only from September 15-24. The production will star the outstanding singing actors Andrea Leap as Anna, Joel Liestman as Dmitri, and Laurel Armstrong as the four other characters. It will be directed by Nicole Wilder and music directed by Jill Dawe. 
SPCO's Liquid Music Series to Present Emily Wells' THE WORLD IS TOO ______ FOR YOU

On Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. in the Machine Shop in Minneapolis, The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra's Liquid Music Series presents Emily Wells' The World Is Too ______ For You with violinist/composer Michi Wiancko, percussionist Greg Fox and musicians of the SPCO, including violinist Francisco Fullana. This world premiere was commissioned by the SPCO's Liquid Music Series.
Marion McClinton Steps in for Lou Bellamy at Capri Theater's FENCES Talk

Due to a conflict, Lou Bellamy will no longer be able to lead a discussion of Fences at the Capri Theater on Thursday, September 7. Denzel Washington's Oscar-winning adaptation of August Wilson's Fences will now be followed by a discussion led by actor and director Marion McClinton.

This fall, WLDRNSS will present the world premiere of When I Nod My Head You Hit It With The Hammer, a highly visual, playful and personal devised play about outdated internal maps, memory, hope and change. WLDRNSS is welcoming England-based theater artist (and long time friend of director Jon Ferguson) John Cooper to co-create and perform in the piece. The play will premiere at The Southern Theater on September 15, 2017, running through September 23, 2017.
