Stages Theatre Company Celebrates Record-Breaking Season

By: Aug. 27, 2010

Stages Theatre Company (STC), the professional children's theatre based in Hopkins, concluded the 2009-10 season with a sizable surplus for the sixth consecutive year. Multiple records were
established including box office sales, attendance and educational programming enrollment.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas exceeded projections and became the top-grossing production in STC's 26-year history. For the first time, STC productions saw increased attendance that exceeded 100,000 people, and educational classes and programming saw more than 12 percent
increase in revenue.

"We have had such fun this past season creating artistic work that has been so well received by our audiences. Last season we took risks and received acclaim for some of the highest quality professional work ever seen, and we look forward to another amazing season," says Artistic
Director Sandy Boren-Barrett.

The 2010-11 season offers a balanced selection of eight popular titles including Junie B. Jones in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells, If You Give a Moose a Muffin and Annie Jr. "We have always prided ourselves on putting the child first. We believe that a strong network of friends and families is the best way to do that very thing and that is what this season is all about," says Boren-Barrett. Stages Theatre Company was founded in 1984 and since then has grown to become one of the largest professional theatres for young audiences in the country. We engage young artists with themes relevant to their lives and involve them in creating magical works featuring young people in
meaningful roles. Through theatrical productions, workshops, conservatory classes and other outreach programs, Stages Theatre Company annually serves more than 125,000 young people and their families.
