In 1912, Irish playwright St. John Greer Ervine wrote The Magnanimous Lover, a short drama about a young woman who stands up for herself against convention and expectation. Critical reaction was mixed. So Ervine fired back one year later by writing The Critics, a comedy about the supposed experts who turn their nose up at Hamlet because of the bad language and the complete lack of dancing elephants.
Falconbridge Players presents these two excellent short plays as stage readings. Free and open to the public.
