This world premiere play examines the almost insurmountable struggle women faced to get the right to vote in America. It is 1913, and women in America have been fighting for suffrage since 1848. Now that a new Democratic President, Woodrow Wilson presides over a Democratic Congress, has the time finally come for women to win the right to vote? Hopes are high until a World War looms, and divisions among the women themselves threaten to unravel it all. If they are to succeed, it’s time for desperate measures …

October 07, 2025 Director MacQueen keeps the action moving along at a steady pace, a much-needed component of a 2.5 hour play offering so much information to absorb about the history of women's suffrage. Highly recommended.
ALL THESE WOMEN World Premiere to Open at Theatre 40 This Fall
July 23, 2025 Theatre 40 in Beverly Hills will present the world premiere of All These Women, a new historical drama written and directed by longtime company artist Melanie MacQueen. Performances will run from September 18 to October 19, 2025, at Theatre 40’s home in the Mary Levin Cutler Theatre on the campus of Beverly Hills High School.

Centering on the newly elected president Woodrow Wilson, the story delves into how the Women’s Suffrage Parade pushed him to finally agree to Voting Rights for All. I decided to speak with Melanie about how the play came into being, her plans to present it as a reading, and how she plans to keep presenting it in the future.
