BOSS Extends at Theatre Asylum Lab

By:

Following rave fan reviews, an Encore Producer's award and sold out shows during the Hollywood Fringe Festival, Boss: The Untold Tony Danza Story extends its popularity for four shows at the Theatre Asylum Lab in Hollywood. With new producing partners Monica Martin of Complex Theaters and Matthew Quinn of Combined Artform/Theatre Asylum, the team behind Boss introduces The ExtravaDANZA, a live 80s themed interactive variety show featuring musical acts, stand up, dance, trivia and prizes. The ExtravaDANZA premieres during the September 27th and October 25th performances of Boss at the Theatre Asylum Lab in Hollywood.

"With ExtravaDANZA, we wanted to create something unique, fun and different that surpassed the average theatre experience," said Luvara. "The ExtravaDANZA is a multi-disciplined exploration of everything 80s that will transport the audience to an entire hit era through one hit TV show."

Tony, played by Damien Luvara, having been a huge star on Taxi suddenly finds himself out of a job and looking for work in this off-the-cuff comedy about Danza's early career life. After finding fame on the small screen as Tony Banta, the sweet-natured and somewhat dimwitted cab driver, on Taxi, Tony finds himself out of a job and looking for work. A strange man makes him an offer he can't refuse, but how much is Tony willing to sacrifice in order to regain his fame?

Written and performed by actors Damien Luvara and Jennifer Monce, and directed by Michelle Thorn, the cast shines in this fictional comedic biography, which explores the nature of the entertainment industry and how far some people will go to achieve success in it. Starring Damien Luvara, Jennifer Monce, Meghan Parks, Christopher Schram, Jordan Rennick, Matt Wool, Hannah Kanengieter, and Gabriel Rissa.

Damien Luvara is an LA based actor, writer and producer. He's starred in staged productions of A Normal Heart, Savage In Limbo, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Woyzeck among others. Luvara's writing credits include the web series Guy Friends starring Kelli Giddish as well as multiple performance-based pieces in collaboration with Seattle art collective SuttonBereSculler. Additionally, Luvara has appeared in films such as Holes and Dia De Los Muertos starring Danny Trejo.

Jennifer Monce is an actress, writer and producer. She hails from Ohio, but spent several years studying in Chicago at iO and The Second City before making her way to LA. Boss: The Untold Tony Danza Story is her first stab at playwriting, but her work can most recently be seen as Kara on the web series Gossip Boy and as Jen in the soon-to-be-released short The Big O.

Michelle Thorn is a writer, director and actress based in Los Angeles. Thorn graduated from the acclaimed Los Angeles High School for the Arts and then went on to earn a Theatre degree from Loyola Marymount University. A regular performer and writer for the Upright Citizens Brigade, Thorn starred in shows such as Girls Gone Blue, Perezprov, Quick and Funny Musicals, Dirtiest Sketch in LA, Sketch Cram, VideogameProv and many more. She wrote and performed for the UCB house sketch team Wall of Sound. In her early writer days, Thorn wrote original comedy videos for UCB Comedy online and now writes, directs and stars in her own comedic videos, which can all be found on Youtube or Funny or Die.
