(01/02/2019) - The University of Hawai'i at M?noa's Department of Theatre and Dance presents A Midsummer Night's Bollywood Dream on February 1, 2, 8, and 9, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. and February 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. on the Kennedy Theatre mainstage. Shakespeare's most popular comedy meets the high-energy song and dance of Bollywood as magic rules the forest and the mischievous creatures play havoc with everyone's love life. The play is co-directed by UHM Professor, Paul Mitri, and Dr. Sai Bhatawadekar, Associate Professor and Director of the Center for South Asian Studies. Original music and lyrics are composed by Ike Webster and Bhatawadekar, who is also the production's dance choreographer. Free pre-show chats will take place at 6:45 p.m. preceding the performances on February 2 and 9. February 2 is also the 'Throwback Saturday' performance featuring prices from the 'good old days' of $5-$15. Regularly priced tickets are $8-$25.

(06/02/2018) - COWBOY VERSUS SAMURAI by Michael Golamco is a laugh-out-loud, romantic comedy exploring the sexual dynamics that surface around race when an attractive Korean American woman moves to town. Travis Park is a high school English teacher and the only Korean American man living in a dusty cowboy town known as Breakneck, Wyoming. When a gorgeous, whip-smart Asian American woman moves into town, he immediately falls for her; the only problem is that she only dates white men. In this savagely funny and often-moving re-telling of Edmond Rostand's Cyrano De Bergerac, one man must choose allegiance between his cowboy friend (a dim, handsome, Caucasian P.E. teacher named Del) and his Asian Brother-with-a-Capital-B (crazed, militant Asian of Unknown Origin, Chester).

(04/16/2018) - PDFUHM's Department of Theatre and Dance presents legendary filmmaker and director Ingmar Bergman's Nora during the centennial year of his birth. Bergman, born July 14, 1918, is globally known for his work in the film industry directing, writing, and producing over sixty films over the course of forty years including The Seventh Seal, Wild Strawberries, and Fanny and Alexander. In addition to his career in film, Bergman also worked in theatre directing 170 plays and writing and adapting plays for the stage like Nora.

(03/07/2018) - UHM's Department of Theatre and Dance is proud to present legendary filmmaker Ingmar Bergman's Nora, a stage version of Henrik Ibsen's masterpiece A Doll House, adapted and translated by Frederick J. Marker.  This fast-paced adaptation directed by Assistant Professor of Theatre, Stacy Ray, shows the choices one woman makes for love and offers the audience a modern spin on a classic work allowing them to call to mind what they themselves would do for love. The play, filled with juicy secrets, looming debts, and difficult choices, runs on the Kennedy Theatre Mainstage April 13, 14, 20, and 21 at 7:30 p.m. and on April 22 at 2:00 p.m.; there will be free pre-show chats on April 14 and 21 at 6:45 p.m. for ticket holders.  Due to some sexual situations and adult themes, this production is not recommended for children under 13.

(11/01/2017) - Manoa Valley Theatre continues its 49th season with the flamboyantly funny comedy and Hawaii premiere of The Legend of Georgia McBride November 9 26, 2017. This is the story of Elvis impersonator, Casey, who's young and broke. His landlord is knocking at the door, and he's just found out his wife is going to have a baby. To make matters even more desperate, Casey is fired from his gig as an Elvis impersonator in a run-down, small-town Florida bar. When the bar owner brings in a B-level drag show to replace his act, Casey finds that he's going to have to adapt to a whole new show business like none he's ever known as he trades one sequined outfit for another and genderbends into a drag show headliner.
