Photo Coverage: Gloria Gray Visits 'The Discovery of King Tut'
by Walter McBride - New York City
(03/21/2016) - ABOUT GLORIA GRAY: Born in Bavaria, and the embodiment of Germanic glamour, Gloria studied acting and direction inMunich. She is currently celebrating 30 years in show business- to quote Shakespeare: 'age cannot wither her'. Known for her husky chanteuse-like performances and her knock out figure, Gloria is also a successful entrepreneur/producer who has worked internationally in Europe and North America in film, cabaret and television. A performance chameleon, 'variety' is her trademark, either as Mae West in Vilsmaier's Hollywood 'Marlene Dietrich' bio-pic, as a cabaret sensation at major German venues, or in her celebrated one woman shows. She is also in demand as a model, brand spokesperson and compere for spectacular dinner shows. Her autobiography was greeted with acclaim and made her a popular talk show guest on German TV- never short of a frank answer or a humorous anecdote from her long career, she continues to entertain her loyal fans and new audiences in a range of shows and events. ABOUT THE DISCOVERY OF KING TUT NEW YORK: Seen by millions of visitors worldwide, The Discovery of King Tut takes visitors back more than 3,000 years to trace the story of the boy king who reigned for a decade and died suddenly at age 19. This thrillingly unique experience explores the legendary tomb and its treasures as they were at the exact moment of their discovery. Visitors can feel the rush of excitement as they step into a moment only ever witnessed by Howard Carter's excavation team, view more than 1000 precisely crafted replicas and reconstructions and discover the story behind one of the most iconic moments in history. The tomb's magnificent burial goods have been reproduced exactly down to the finest detail by expert Egyptian craftsmen and renowned Egyptologists. These exquisitely crafted replicas and reconstructions, allow visitors to step into the wonder of the discovery as if the original excavation in the Valley of the Kings has been reopened. Crucially, the exhibition also brings together a collection that can only be seen separately elsewhere, even in Egypt: because the king's treasures are kept in the Cairo Museum. In addition, Tutankhamun's beautifully painted tomb in the Valley of the Kings has been stripped of everything but his mummy, the outer coffin and the stone sarcophagus. By contrast, the exhibition experience culminates in exact reconstructions of three chambers from Tutankhamun's tomb, revealing themselves just as the discoverers saw them. A radioplay-like audio tour based on Howard Carter's diaries, video documentaries, extensive texts and object descriptions and unhindered access to the objects together provide an exciting, as well as informative, experience for all the senses. The Discovery of King Tut is scheduled to run through May 1, 2016. Tickets are on sale now at www.TUTNYC.com ABOUT FAMILY SUNDAYS AT THE DISCOVERY OF KING TUT NEW YORK: The Discovery of King Tut, the thrilling recreation of Tutankhamen's tomb and the treasures found within, has announced two special 'Family Sundays,' scheduled for March 20th and April 10th. BWW Review: DEAD DOG PARK at 59E59 – An Excellent Pointed Play About Racial Tension
by Marina Kennedy - Off-Broadway
(03/01/2016) - 'Dead Dog Park' is on stage at 59E59 now through Sunday, March 6th. This is one to see, an excellent, pointed play that deals with racial tensions as a white officer is accused of pushing an African-American youth out of a four-story window.
