LOA $15.25 per rehearsal hour & $99.25 per performance (LOA - Periodic Performance)


SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in Theatricum's 2022 (Outdoor Theatre) Summer Repertory Season: Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night's Dream and Merry Wives of Windsor; Trouble the Water, play adaptation by Ellen Geer from the book by Rebecca Bruff; and one show TBD (see breakdown).

All races, genders, ages, and ethnicities are encouraged to apply.

LA based talent encouraged to apply.

Theatricum will be following all COVID safety protocols as designated by Equity and LA County Department of Public Health. All actors will need to show proof of vaccination completion (including booster) 2-weeks prior to first rehearsal. If you are unwilling to meet the vaccination requirement please do not submit.


INSTRUCTIONS

Please slate at the beginning, with name, height and location. Please prepare two monologues at least one of which should be Shakespeare. Audition should be at least four minutes. Shakespeare monologues do not need to be from the plays in the season. To submit, please email an inquiry no later than 11:59pm ET. March 11, 2022. Upon submission you will be sent a link to a form to include your audition as an unlisted link on YouTube, Vimeo, or similar site.

BREAKDOWN

All roles will be understudied.

MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR

This production will be set in the 1950s, in the fictional town of Windsor, CT.

Ford- A wealthy and jealous man, living in Windsor. Later disguised as Mr. Brook.

Mrs. Ford- Mr. Ford’s wife, and friend to Mrs. Page.

Page- A respectable and largely even-keeled man, living in Windsor.

Mrs. Page- Mr. Page’s wife, friend to Mrs. Ford, and mother to Anne Page.

Falstaff- A slovenly and capricious trickster, dead set on getting rich quick.

Anne Page- Daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Page, an eligible and clever bachelorette. In love with Fenton.

Fenton- A suitor to Anne, with a history of questionable financial decisions.

Hostess- The clever and practical owner of the local motel, whose allegiance swings to the highest bidder

Dr. Caius- A young doctor, and suitor to Anne Page. Mrs. Page’s preferred match for her daughter.

Mistress Quickly- a servant to Dr. Caius, and beleaguered go-between for the various interests. Later disguised as the queen of the fairies.

Slender- A well connected suitor to Anne Page. Mr. Page’s preferred match for his daughter.

Parson Hugh Evans- A friend and confidant to Slender.

Justice Robert Shallow- A county judge, and Slender’s elder, more influential cousin.

Simple- Servant to Slender.

Rugby- Servant to Caius.

Robin- Assistant to Falstaff.

Bardolph, Pistol and Nym- Falstaff’s drinking buddies and occasional servants.

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM

Theseus- King of Athens.

Hippolyta- Queen of the Amazons.

Egeus- A noble of Athens.

Hermia- A young woman of Athens, daughter of Egeus. In love with Lysander.

Lysander- A young man of Athens. In love with Hermia.

Demetrius- A young man of Athens. In love with, and betrothed to, Hermia.

Helena- A young woman of Athens. Hermia’s oldest friend. In love with Demetrius.

Oberon- King of the Faeries.

Titania- Queen of the Faeries.

Puck- Trickster spirit, footman to Oberon.

Nick Bottom- A weaver. Presents the part of Pyramus.

Peter Quince- A carpenter and aspiring director.

Frances Flute- A bellows-mender. Presents the part of Thisbe.

Tom Snout- A tinker. Presents the part of Wall.

Snug- A joiner. Presents the part of Lion.

Robin Starveling- A tailor. Presents the part of Moonshine.

Philostrate- Adjutant to Theseus and master of revels.

First Faerie

Various ensemble members to understudy, play Lords, Amazons, Faeries, etc.

TROUBLE THE WATER

Robert Smalls- (elder) A war hero, formerly enslaved person, and US Congressman reflecting on his life as it unfolds onstage. Narrator. Black.

Trouble- (15-40) Robert Smalls, who mounts a daring maritime escape during the Civil War. Black.

Henry Mc Kee- (40’s) The owner of the McKee plantation, where Trouble was born into slavery. Wealthy, respected in his time, and most desirous of strong male heirs. Kinder than customary to Trouble, prompting suspicions about the full nature of their relationship. White.

Jane Mc Kee- (20-50’s) Henry’s young wife, who has doubts about the world in which she finds herself. White.

Lydia- Trouble’s mother, enslaved nearly her entire life, a resilient and clever woman with wisdom earned in most cruel ways. Black.

George- Uncle to Trouble, brother-in-law to Lydia. One of the surrogate father-figures that Trouble had in his youth. Black.

Hannah- Trouble’s wife, middle-aged, Black.

Rhett- (40’s) White supremist, slave owner. Neighbor to the McKees plantation, a man of princely wealth and supremacist disposition. White

Peter- Rhett’s son, of comparable age to Trouble. Antagonistic and angry, he yearns for his father’s approval and violently takes out his frustrations on those he deems lesser than himself. White.
