Please prepare 32 bars of a song, and have a contrasting selection ready if asked. Bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided. Be prepared to dance if asked. Sides will also be provided at the audition and will be available on the web-site at

WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND Based on the novel by Mary Hayley Bell (wife of actor Sir John Mills and mother of actors Hayley and Juliet Mills) and later Richard Attenborough-produced film, Whistle Down the Wind follows the fortunes of a fugitive caught between the prejudice of adults and the innocence of the young. Reset from the original classic and transported from rural Yorkshire to a new life in America’s Deep South in 1959, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s soaring score combines hauntingly beautiful love songs and explosive rock music with lyrics by acclaimed rock-n-roll songwriter Jim Steinman.

Swallow: 19 - 24. (Plays age 17) a young girl questioning her beliefs and approaching womanhood. Pop belt.

The Man: 26 - 36. A possible fugitive hiding in Swallows barn that the town youths believe is Jesus. Long hair & light beard preferred. Pop/Rock tenor.

Amos: 19 - 26. Motorcycle riding town “bad boy”.

Candy: 19 – 26. African American, girlfriend of Amos. Pop belt.

Boone: 38 – 48. Swallow, Brat & Poor Baby’s widowed father. Pop baritone.

Brat: 9 – 14. Swallow’s younger sister. Pop belt

Poor Baby: 8 – 11. Swallow’s younger brother.

Edward: 38 – 48. African American, best friend of Boone. Pop baritone.

HIGH SOCIETY

HIGH SOCIETY, is a musical with book by Arthur Kopit and music and lyrics by the legendary Cole Porter, based upon the play “The Philadelphia Story” by Phillip Barry. It’s the classic 1939 romantic drawing room comedy about life among the rich and charming that chronicles the comeuppance of Tracy Lord, a young and beautiful American aristocrat of glacial comportment and little tolerance for human frailty. In the course of preparing for her wedding to a man for whom she is ill suited, she is pulled from her pedestal, a process that lets her learn to bend and acquire a human heart.

Tracy Lord: 35 – 45. Feisty woman about to marry her second husband. Soprano.

Dexter Haven: 35 - 45. Clever and witty. Tracy’s first husband, high Baritone

Liz Imbrie: 35 - 45. Sharp, witty photographer who has a crush on Mike. Mezzo.

Mike Connor: 35 - 45. Witty, sharp journalist. Tenor/Baritone.

Margaret Lord: 55 - 65. Tracy and Dinah’s Mother. Mezzo.

George Ketteridge: 35 - 48. Tracy’s fiancé, uptight, stuffy. Baritone.

Dinah Lord: 14 – 16. Tracy’s younger sister. Soprano

Seth Lord: 55 – 65. Tracy and Dinah’s father. Baritone

Uncle Willie: 50 - 65. Tracy and Dinah’s Uncle. He loves his drinks and the ladies. Baritone.

Chess, with music by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Uvaeus, of ABBA and lyrics by Tim Rice (Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Lion King), involves the romantic triangle between two men who are competing in a chess tournament that has become a symbol for the cold war struggle between the US and the USSR. From Bangkok to Budapest the players, lovers, politicians, and spies manipulate and are manipulated to the pulse of a monumental rock score that includes “One Night in Bangkok” and Heaven Help My Heart.”

Florence: CAST. 30 – 45. Strong belt, Born in Hungary but raised in America. Clever, theatrical, vivacious, volatile. Freddie’s chess “second.”

Freddie: CAST. 30 – 48. Rock tenor. American chess champion. A cross between Bobby Fisher and John McEnroe. Arrogant and tempermental, but a genious.

Anatoly: CAST. 30 - 48. Rock tenor. Russian chess champion. Charming, intelligent and passionate.

Molokov: 35 - 55. Bass. Intellectual, formidable Russian. Anatoly’s chess “second.”

Svetlana: CAST. 30 – 45. Strong belt. Anatoly’s wife.

Walter: 30 - 55. Rock baritone, a marketing agent. Seemingly respectable and trustworthy.

Arbiter: 25 - 50. Rock tenor. International businessman. Smooth, but with a quick temper.

Gregor Vasy: CAST. 45 - 55. Baritone. Florence’s father.

2 female Ensemble: 25 – 45. Rock, Sing & move.

Forever Plaid is an affectionate homage to the close-harmony male singers of the 1950’s (The Four Aces, The Four Freshmen, the Four Lads). The story centers around four young men who never made it to their first big gig, but are given a chance to fulfill their dreams and perform the show that never was. Stroll down memory lane with this musical featuring pop classics and clever patter while humming along with the great nostalgic pop hits. You’ll smile at this quirky off-beat tribute to the love of music, entertainment and the power of following your dream.

Frankie: 23 – 28. The leader and caretaker of the group. He has the most confidence. Humble. Second tenor – Lyric Baritone.

Sparky: 23 – 28. The clown – the cut-up of the group. He is always looking for ways to crack jokes. He is very sharp and loves to perform and tell stories. He is the comic engine of the show. Baritone.

Jinx: 23 – 28. The shy one. He is terrified. He doesn’t always remember what song comes next or what his next move is. He occasionally gets a nosebleed when he sings above an A. Tenor.

Smudge: 23 – 28. The worrier. He has a chronic nervous stomach. He is very reluctant to perform. He always worried about what was coming up and regretted what had passed. He is also dyslexic. Bass.
