SEEKING

Equity actors who are comfortable with music, singing, and dancing for roles in THE COLORED MUSEUM by George C. Wolfe (see breakdown).


INSTRUCTIONS

Please prepare a 1 minute contemporary monologue (no classical monologues, please.) If you are also comfortable playing a musical instrument, you may submit an additional 1 minute video demonstrating this ability. Along with your audition material, please include a headshot and resume. Videos may be sent via Youtube or Vimeo links.

There are no pre-defined tracks for this production. Tracks will be determined after casting based on those who are cast.

Character Descriptions:

Miss Pat - From Git on Board. A flight attendant who welcomes the audience aboard the celebrity slave ship going from the Ivory Coast to Savannah.

Junie Robinson - From Soldier with a Secret.

Lawanda - From The Hairpiece. straight haired wig.

Janine - From The Hairpiece. Afro wig.

Medea Jones - From last Mama on the Couch. The sister.

Admonia - From Lala’s Opening. The woman who brings flo'rance out on stage. Lala calls her her slightly overweight black maid.

Mama - From The Last Mama on the Couch. Well worn mama who makes her son wipe his feet in the ground.

Aunt Ethyl - From Cookin’ With Aunt Ethyl. She hosts a cooking show where she sings.

Miss Roj - From The Gospel According To Miss Roj. Transgender woman who looks beneath the surface of her glittery nocturnal existence.

Narrator - From The Last Mama on the Couch. The narrator hands out awards to the characters for their performance, acts like part of the audience.

The Lady In Plaid - From The Last Mama on the Couch. She is the wife of the son who puts on a very dramatic performance while her husband tries to get her to cook dinner.

Flo-rance - From Lala’s Opening. the man brought out on stage tied up. Lala's love who cheated on her.

Topsy Washington - From The Party. Topsy Washington imagines a huge party with all the characters.

Girl - Woman from The Photo Session.

The Woman - From The Hairpiece. Woman with the bald head who freaks out.

Walter-Lee-Beau-Willie - From The Last Mama on the Couch. The son of mama and the husband of the lady in plaid.

The Man - The man from Symbiosis. He throws away all of his belongings.

The Little Girl - From Lala’s Opening. Lala's younger self.

Guy - The man from The Photo Session.

Lala Lamazing Grace - Lala Lamazing Grace is a singer who is haunted by her former childhood self.

Normal Jean - From Permutations. The woman with the egg.

The Kid - From Symbiosis. He is the younger version of the man.
